After Shuttle Launch, Gov. Scott Touts Ability of Space Coast to Rebound

Shortly after the space shuttle Endeavor launched into orbit from Cape Canaveral on its final flight, Gov. Rick Scott took to the airwaves to give the Space Coast a boost.

The Atlantis shuttle is tapped to be the last space shuttle flight later this summer, and the end of the shuttle program also signals the end of thousands of jobs directly and indirectly linked to the shuttle missions.

Speaking on "FOX & Friends" this morning, Scott said he is trying to attract new, high-tech companies to the area to make up for the large amounts of high-wage engineering jobs that will be lost.

"We will get that area of the state back to work," he said.

"There's a lot of companies that want to come to the state of Florida and that part of the state because of all the talent of their employees," Scott added.
