AFP Urges Florida Congressmen to Oppose Wind Subsidies

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is calling on three Florida Republican congressmen -- Gus Bilirakis, Vern Buchanan and John Mica -- to stand against increased wind subsidies. AFP is running ads in Florida newspapers urging the three congressmen to oppose these alternative energy subsidies.

The lame-duck session has traditionally been a time when lawmakers sneak through big-government policies like these wind subsidies, thinking nobody is paying attention, said Chris Hudson, AFPs director in Florida, on Monday. These ads are part of an effort to let Florida taxpayers know that billions have been spent on this corporate handout, yet this industry still hasn't made it in the market. Lawmakers have a chance here to signal that it's time to let the best affordable energy solutions work, rather than handing over more of our tax dollars to an industry that's had decades to deliver results to the taxpayer and failed."
