AFP: Florida Legislature Did Well on Tax Cuts, Killing Medicaid Expansion

On Friday night, Chris Hudson, the director of the Florida chapter of Americans for Prosperity (AFP), offered his take on the completed special session in Tallahassee, including the $79 billion budget passed by the Legislature and ensuring Medicaid expansion did not go through.

“The Legislature is on the right track by voting down Medicaid expansion, film incentives, and handouts to sports arenas and passing a $400 million tax cut,” Hudson said. “Our activists and fellow Floridians are extremely grateful for this, but there is still work to be done. $300 million in last-minute projects does not excite our activists and Floridians. Lawmakers should fight all special projects that have not been vetted properly.

“We are looking forward to bringing more relief and fighting for more free-market principles in the next session,” Hudson added.
