AFP Calls Out Florida Representatives Who Backed Export-Import Bank
Americans for Prosperity’s (AFP) Florida chapter came out swinging at members of the Florida congressional delegation who voted to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank this week.
"Representatives Curbelo, Diaz-Balart, Graham, Jolly, Murphy, Rooney, Ros-Lehtinen and ten others should have joined their colleagues - Republican and Democrat - in voting no for more handouts to special interests," said Chris Hudson, AFP’s director in Florida, on Wednesday, a day after a slim majority of Republicans and every Democrat save U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., voted to reauthorize the bank. "By voting to reauthorize the wasteful and corrupt Export-Import Bank, these representatives made it clear that they prioritize corporate welfare over protecting Florida taxpayers.
"Even Rep. Alan Grayson voted no against this cronyist slush fund,” Hudson added. “Congress's 14 percent approval rating is in no small part due to so many lawmakers choosing to bring a slush fund back from the dead rather than fighting wasteful spending and lowering taxes for all Americans. We appreciate the ten representatives who stood up for Florida taxpayers and voted no on reauthorization and wish that Curbelo, Diaz-Balart, Graham, Jolly, Murphy, Rooney, and Ros-Lehtinen had joined them."
