Overriding a veto issued by Gov. Charlie Crist, abill by Rep. Denise Grimsley, R-LaBelle, on clarifying the sale of agricultural land passed the House unanimously on Tuesday afternoon. The measure also went through the Senate -- leading incoming Agricultural and Consumer Services Commissioner Adam Putnam to cheer the news.
Our legislative leaders have acted boldly and responsibly in protecting open spaces and working agricultural lands for future generations from an inconsistent application of tax policy, said Putnam, who attended the opening of the 85th Florida House on Tuesday morning. This bill will bring evenhandedness to property taxes on these farms and ranches.
