Adam Hasner Takes Aim at Obama's New Economic Adviser
Former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, now in a crowded Republican primary looking to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, took aim at President Barack Obamas appointment of Alan Krueger to lead the White House Council of Economic Advisers.
"President Obama's selection of economist Alan Krueger to lead the White House Council of Economic Advisers is highly disappointing, but not surprising, said Hasner. After almost three years of economic policies which have increased unemployment and lowered economic output, it's no surprise that the president selected someone who extols the virtues of higher taxes and advocates for a 'cap and trade' program to play a 'central role' in the economy. The president's selection today underscores the reality that no matter who he appoints to these positions, our economy will not grow so long as he and his Democratic allies continue to push for the failed policies of stimulus, deficit spending, tax increases, and attacks on private-sector job creators. As the last two and a half years have demonstrated, these policies are playing a key role in killing jobs and stifling economic growth. We don't need new economic advisers, we need a new president and a new Congress who will get out of the way of American job creators and innovators."
