Adam Hasner Gets the Backing of Two House Republicans

With state Senate President Mike Haridopolos out of the race, former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner is getting some backing from Republicans in the Legislature for his bid to win the Republican nomination to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012. On Wednesday, Hasner announced he won the endorsements of both Rep. Dennis Baxley, R-Ocala, and Rep. Scott Plakon, R-Longwood.

"Dennis and Scott are proven conservatives who have fought for limited government, greater personal freedoms, and strong Florida families," said Hasner. "I'm honored that they are lending their energy, their voices, and their time to our growing grass-roots campaign."

"Adam Hasner is a proven defender of faith, family and freedom in Florida," saidBaxley who had led the state Christian Coalition. "Having served with Adam, I've witnessed his toughness firsthand. He's exactly the kind of common-sense conservative we need to send to Washington to stand shoulder to shoulder with Marco Rubio."

"Adam Hasner is the only Republican who can be trusted to go to Washington, and stand up to the status quo in both parties on issues like spending and the debt," said Plakon. "Conservatives have an opportunity to unite around Adam Hasner, who in addition to being the only proven limited-government leader in this race, is also the candidate who gives our party the best possible chance to defeat Bill Nelson next November."
