Adam Hasner Doubles Down on Support of Term Limits

On Wednesday, former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, now running for the Republican nomination to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, announced that he was signing the term-limit pledge backed by U.S. Term Limits, an organization out of Virginia.

"I've seen firsthand how term limits in Tallahassee have benefited the state of Florida, and how the lack of term limits in Congress has made it difficult to effect real change in Washington," said Hasner. That's why, in addition to taking the U.S. Term Limits Amendment Pledge, I have also made a personal commitment to the people of Florida to fight for congressional term limits and to serve no more than two terms if elected. More importantly, I will represent the state of Florida with the mindset that I amonly serving one term.

"As the recent debt-crisis debate demonstrated, there are far too many establishment politicians in both parties who see public service as a career, not a calling, added Haner. "This leads to the kind of deal-making where political preservation is more important than doing what is right for the country. I believe the Founding Fathers intended something far different -- a system where citizens represent their communities for short periods, then return home to live under the laws they passed. Common-sense term limits will help highlight other reforms vital to the resurgence of our country, like a balanced budget amendment and serious spending reforms -- a reality."
