ABC Backs Southerland Over Crowded GOP Filed to Challenge Boyd

In a morning that has seen a large number of endorsements, the Associated Builders & Contractors of North Florida (ABC) announced their backing of Steve Southerland, who faces a crowded Republican primary field to take on U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd.

I thank the Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida for their principled stand and for their long tradition of standing by candidates who support limited government and free market principles, said Southerland. The timing of this endorsement humbles me and speaks volumes about the commitment of ABC and the working men and women in the construction industry.

Representing more than 2,500 companies, employing more than 200,000 workers, ABC is the largest construction association in the state with five chapters.

ABC stands for free enterprise, Merit Shop, and balanced, reasonable regulation, said Chuck Lester, chairman of ABCs Board of Directors. Steve Southerland shares our philosophy, and we look forward to doing all we can to elect him as the next Congressman from Floridas second congressional district.

Steve Southerland has been a longtime and tireless supporter of economic liberty, added Lester. He understands the proper constitutional role of government and supports ABC members in their struggle to limit government-sponsored discrimination in the form of union only project labor agreements.
