Aaron Bean Gunning for Wise's Seat, Not Thrasher's

Republican Aaron Bean, a former state representative from Fernandina Beach, waged a brief campaign in the special election for the 8th district state senate last year. Bean pulled out of the race to back the eventual winner, John Thrasher.

But Bean did not fold up his campaign and is in the process of transferring his campaign over to the 5th district senate seat-currently held by Sen. Stephen Wise, R-Jacksonville, who is leaving due to term limits.

Bean said on Thursday that he was not planning on taking Thrasher on. Instead, Bean is in the midst of asking supporters if he has their permission to use their contributions from the race for the 8th district for the 5th district campaign. Bean said that he brought in $240,000 for the special election and still has $200,000 in the bank.

Standing in the way is another former state representative, veteran Jacksonville Republican Dick Kravitz. Bean said he had coffee with Kravitz a few weeks ago and they both intended to run for Wises seat.

We both will campaign as gentlemen, said Bean.

UPDATE: And just like that, the gentleman's campaign is over. Kravitz just announced that he is going to run for Duval County Tax Collector.
