AAA: Negative Global Economy Brings Lower Gas Prices
Negative global economic news, including tumbling crude prices on the market, has resulted in one benefit for Floridians: gas prices.
And the decline at the pump is expected to continue a downward trend through June, AAA is reporting.
Across the globe, pessimistic job reports and demand numbers have added nothing but bearish pressure to the market during the past several weeks, AAA spokeswoman Jessica Brady stated in a release.
While none of this is good news, at least it has caused gas prices to fall, providing some relief to motorists. Gas prices are forecast to retreat further in the coming weeks and are well below last years averages for the month of June.
With crude selling for below $90 a barrel, the average gallon of gas in Florida was selling for $3.43, down 5 cents from a week earlier. A month ago, the same gallon was selling on average for $3.75.
The national average entering the week was $3.59 a gallon, also down 5 cents from a week earlier.
