With 2010 Elections Done, John Bolton Starts to Re-Emerge
Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton has said that he is considering launching a bid for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, but he generally remained on the sidelines during the 2010 election cycle. Unlike many of his potential rivals for the GOP nod, Bolton has not gone across the country backing Republican candidates through a leadership PAC. He certainly made no secret that he backed Republicans, but he was not exactly hightailing it across the fruited plains beating the drums for would-be congressmen.
But with the election been and gone, Bolton is starting to re-emerge. He has been getting some face time on television, namely through Fox News where he is a contributor, weighing in on everything ranging from North Koreas nuclear ambitions to U.N. affairs. He has also penned an essay in the Wall Street Journal expressing his thoughts on President Barack Obamas call for India to be a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council.
With Obama and his allies looking to push the START treaty through Congress before a host of new Republicans take their seats in January, Bolton may be a familiar face on the news in December. For one thing, a television studio is a lot more comfortable than either Iowa or New Hampshire this time of year.
