$1,000 Reward for Information on CAIR School Speakers in Tampa
The simmering topic of Muslims speaking at Hillsborough County campuses is the subject of a school board workshop this afternoon.
Though no policy decisions will be made -- only discussed -- the Florida Family Association is offering $1,000 reward for information regarding any future campus speaking engagements by the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
FFA, which criticized Steinbrenner High School for hosting local CAIR director Hassan Shibly last year, has been filing weekly public records requests with the district to determine if new invitations have been extended to the Muslim group.
Alleging that its emails have been blocked by the school district, FFA is enlisting the public to ferret out information and to press for a policy prohibiting "outside speakers from addressing students if they advocate politics that are antithetical to the Constitution."
Shibly said he won't be attending today's workshop.
"It's conveniently scheduled when all Muslims will be attending the Friday prayer service," he said.
