George Zimmerman: Not Liked in Florida But Seen as Not Guilty

A new poll shows Floridians dont like George Zimmerman -- but they dont think he is guilty of the death of Trayvon Martin.

Public Policy Polling (PPP), a firm with connections to Democrats, released a poll on Thursday which shows only 20 percent of those surveyed have a favorable view of Zimmerman while 47 percent see him in an unfavorable light.

But a plurality of those surveyed -- 47 percent -- think he is not guilty of Martins death while 37 percent think he is guilty. A jury unanimously ruled Zimmerman was not guilty in a high-profile trial.

Marco Rubio Leads Alex Sink, Debbie Wasserman Schultz in New Poll

A new poll shows U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., could be looking at a close race for a second term in 2016. Rubio is considered a leading contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.

Public Policy Polling (PPP), a firm with connections to prominent Democrats, shows Rubio is slightly underwater with 43 percent approving of him but 45 percent disapproving of him. Despite that, 42 percent of those surveyed believe Rubios positions are about right though 37 percent think he is too conservative and 10 percent believe he is too liberal.

Medical Marijuana Amendment in Solid Shape in New Poll

Activists led by attorney John Morgan are looking to pass a state constitutional amendment in 2014 that would legalize medical marijuana use in the Sunshine State and a new poll shows it could well pass. Proposed amendments to the Florida Constitution need to pass with 60 percent approval at the ballot box.

Bill Young Breaks With House GOP, Urges End to Shutdown

U.S. Rep. Bill Young, R-Fla., is breaking with Republicans in the House and calling to end the federal government shutdown. On Thursday, Young said he would back all bills funding the federal government.

The time for politics is over; lets get on to legislating and the hard work of tackling our $17 trillion national debt and solving important national issues like the current flood insurance crisis, said Young. All sides need to sit down and work these problems out together.
