The Florida legislature is poised to change campaign contribution limits.


Two billsone in the House, and one in the Senateare seeking to up campaign contributions significantly from the current $500 limit. The current cap on campaign donations is nearly 20 years old.

Some of the biggest names in the Democratic Party are heading to the Sunshine State this week to hit up Florida donors for cash.

President Barack Obama will be headed to Miami Wednesday to fundraise for the Democratic National Committee at real estate giant Stephen Bittels home. Bittel was a major fundraiser for Obama in 2012, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the president during his re-election campaign.

 

 

Bittel's bash is a high-roller-only affair. Cost per plate to dine with the president: $10,000.

Circuit Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Against Voucher Program

The statewide voucher program which sends nearly 70,000 low-income students to private schools each year received some good news Monday afternoon when a Leon County circuit judge tossed out a lawsuit alleging the program is unconstitutional.

In the ruling, Judge George Reynolds ruled the plaintiffs -- who include the Florida Education Association, the Florida School Boards Association and the Florida PTA -- did not have standing to bring the lawsuit to court.
