House Passes $430 Million Tax Cut Package, Sends to Rick Scott for Approval

The Florida House passed a tax cut package crafted by the Florida Senate Monday morning, aiming to save Floridians nearly $430 million in a variety of areas, ranging from cellphone taxes to yacht repairs.

Earlier in the day, the Senate also approved the tax cut package with a 34-2 vote. The Senate then sent the package over to the House where it passed with overwhelming support by a 91-2 vote.

The Keep Florida Learning committee will head to Tampa for its second meeting June 18-19. The two-day meeting will cover basics like the Sunshine Law, but committee members will be discussing the Florida Standards at the meeting as well.

Andy Gardiner: Florida Legislature Set to Land Budget Plane By Session End

Florida politicos should expect the 2015 special session to end slightly early. Senate President Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, said Wednesday he anticipates wrapping up budget negotiations by Tuesday, June 16. That means state lawmakers will vote on the final budget next Friday, June 19, a day before the scheduled end of session. 

Legislators have been chugging ahead with budget negotiations since the beginning of the month, working into the weekend for meetings deciding allocations in various areas of the state budget.
