Ron DeSantis And His Hysterical Hysteria

September 25, 2018 - 9:45am

From Wikipedia:  While the word "hysteria" originates from the Greek word for uterus, hystera, the word itself, is not an ancient one, and the term "hysterical suffocation" -- meaning a feeling of heat and inability to breathe -- was instead used in ancient Greek medicine. This suggests an entirely physical cause for the symptoms but, by linking them to the uterus, suggests that the disorder can only be found in women.

Well, Ron DeSantis is definitely showing us that the disorder is not only found in women.

DeSantis appeared to be a little hysterical in confronting the media about their coverage of Andrew Gillum.

So much so that he lied about someone getting kicked out of the Legislature in Tallahassee. Now Marc Caputo of POLITICO Florida put it a little nicer in a tweet:

“It didn’t happen,” he wrote. Which sounds nicer than “He lied.” However, the latter is more straightforward and to the point, because that’s exactly what DeSantis did.

He lied.

At this point, DeSantis KNOWS the media isn’t going to let an outburst like that go unchecked.

Hysterical Ron started rolling his neck and his already high, nasally voice got two octaves higher.

Talk about feeling the heat and inability to breathe (hysterical suffocation)!

Don’t believe me?

Check out the video!

The Florida gubernatorial race has become quite the big deal, nationally. People are going to weigh in on everything concerning the candidates.

When a candidate becomes hysterical, as DeSantis did in this video, perhaps that candidate just isn’t ready for prime time.

I was expecting DeSantis to stomp his foot, poke his mouth out, and call his mommy to tell her the media is picking on him.

Zone of protection for Gillum?

Let’s be honest. The media covered Gillum and the FBI probe incessantly during the primary.

The Tallahassee Democrat and the Tampa Bay Times were two of the biggest ones. We ALL know about New York, Costa Rica, and everything else that’s been printed about Gillum and that probe.

We also know Gillum has never been implicated by the FBI, despite the many stories that included him instead of those who actually HAD been implicated.

How many stories have you read about Scott Maddox or Paige Carter-Smith? You know, people who were implicated.

Never, and I repeat, never, did you see Gillum have a meltdown such as DeSantis did, and ask the press why they weren’t covering those people.

That’s childish and, well, hysterical.

It’s time for DeSantis to put his big-girl panties on.

Republicans need to pull his coattails and give him a lesson on how to remain cool under pressure. I understand DeSantis is a product of the tea party, and that entire movement was built on raw emotion. Good and bad.

Perhaps he should give Marco Rubio a call.

Heck, I’ll even give him a piece of advice that’s been passed down in many black families:

It’s not about what they call you. It’s about what you answer to.

Unless what they call you IS what you answer to!

In that case, you are in trouble.

Wait. Maybe that’s why Ron DeSantis is so ... hysterical.

What a hack. Why does Sunshine State News publish this garbage?

Miss Leslie. I'm shocked! You ruin my day by forcing me to defend a Republican! All Desantis was doing was making a point about double standards when it comes to guilt by association. His policies, a warmed over call to selfishness in the Scott model should be enough to convince voters it's time for change. On the video he was emphatic about CAIR. Jews as lawyers and as actual civil rights activists walked the walk for black America. The Palestinian flags come out for every major rally these days. You cannot stab and bomb your way to a nation state. You cannot call apartheid when you refuse to live in peace with your neighbors forcing them to build walls and barriers. Palestine needs leaders unafraid to fight for peace, instead they know they would be assassinated in a minute by their own people. Is peace what they really want? Desantis is a decent man whose horrible public policy ideas, whether it's trying to be Trump, Jr. or Rick Scott-lite should be enough to write about.

Ms. Wimes there is a difference between politics and government. Politics in our nation has sunk to a degrading low....nasty....accusatory machine with little regard for the commonality of mankind. We all have needs and we all have to live on this planet in some kind of orderly fashion. Government however, should be balanced and fair to all people. We have that in our Constitution yet the reality of that seems to be unraveling as politicians seek their own selfish ways to rule, control and wield power. I'll share a piece of advice that I grew up hearing from my family: "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Your opinions - my opinions - all our opinions are allowed as free expressions but it is SO sad when those expressions only serve our own purposes. Isn't it possible to stand with a candidate of choice displaying ethics and integrity and positive speech about his/her accomplishments which should stand on their own merit? Picking at flaws in another's character just shows the flaws in our own. I don't care what our background is, what race, religion, party affiliation or all the rest anyone adheres to, but if we cannot learn to model some kind of civility in our daily lives we turn our culture into chaos. Kindness has left the building and it is one thing for sure.....it is not accusations and pointing out all the bad in anyone that will restore a peaceful foundation to our nation. Taking ownership of what is inside of us and realizing our own need to change is not a popular stand. Snippy remarks may be good reading but they tear at the fiber of our society. I encourage you to have consideration toward creating some kind of altered strategy in your writing relative to those with whom you may disagree. . To all of you who want to refute what I have written may I just say - before you tear it down - I am taking my own medicine here. I am intentionally working on myself to be kind while truthful yet not degrading to others even if I don't agree with them. My sandbox is a target for throwing out all debris. Respect must start in my own heart. How about you?

The only hysterical one here is you, Leslie

Sunshine State News, I think it's time to tie a can to the tail of this harridan

I went to this event in Oldsmar and witnessed Ron De Santis have this meltdown in person! Very surprised by his reaction! Definitely not gubernatorial! As a voter in the bellwether of Pinellas county this gives me pause about his candidacy to be the chief executive of our great state! So remember as Pinellas goes so will Florida on November 6th!

Lots of anger towards journalists including Wimes these days. Social media helps nothing but ignites additional flawed ideas in the heads of those susceptible to believing the crap the lobbyists get paid to send out. But, glad the First Amendment still works! See the column George Bennett wrote tonight in the Palm Beach Post if you want to get a view of the DeSantis approach about Floridians healthcare.....

Leslie I used to enjoy your writings but it seems that you have lost it! Ron DeSantis served our Country on the battlefield and in Congress he has the highest code of conduct and will represent the good people of Florida with honor dignity and integrity . On the other hand Andrew Gillum has associated with Jewish Hate Groups . He was a speaker at Netroots Nation with Anti -Semites Rev. Louis Farrakhan and Keith Ellison and made a Welcome Speech at Florida Muslim Capitol Day sponsored by CAIR Council on Islamic American Relations which is linked to Hamas designated as a terrorist organization . Gillum ‘s running mate claimed that Jews nailed him to the cross . The Radical Dream Defenders who have likened Israel to an Apartheid system campaigned for Gillum and has endorsed him for his gubnatorial run. Gillum has said he is “pleased and proud” to be endorsed by this group . He also attended the Rockwood Leadership Institute who promotes Israel Boycotts and pushes the BDS movement with Radical Linda Sarsour. Gillum appeared in a podcast called GOGH where he stated that moving the American Embassy to Jerusalem was a “Provocation by the President” and he characterized Israel’s response to rocket attacks on it’s Citizens “in my opinion is an outsized response that has created a humanitarian crisis “. This reeks of Anti-Semitism and Florida cannot afford to have this hate permeating the Governors Mansion.

Wow Linda!!………….. Can you be any more racist passing on BS , propaganda like that??………….…I bet you don't even think it is racist, is how racist you are...…...……..And you wonder why the repub party has shrunk so much that you'll lose control of Florida!...………… We'll see you in November now everyone clearly sees repubs for the truly are as women, decent people rise up give you, repubs the smackdown you deserve.

DeSantis associates with the biggest hate group of them all. Radical Republicans. Lately, all the racism, anti-anything, pro-killing, murderous behavior has come from radical republicans.

Gillum wants to raise taxes, open borders, repeal 2A and impeach President Trump. Given those dangerous policy points, Gillum stands little chance of winning, despite pollsters who randomly select respondents without revealing party affiliation.....

Leslie Wimes, I have read several of your articles and am amazed at your twisting of facts and ignoring of truths. Either you are terribly ignorant and uneducated,. . . . . . . or you know better and are just plain evil.

Why do you keep reading?

If it all goes down the drain because of our fundamental ignorance, prejudice, and basic inability to deal pragmatically and intellectually with those "non tribal folks" outside our comfort and knowledge zones, maybe those of us who still live will actually be able to get the concept of "community" back on track. I do know there are now some that I no longer want to associate with. But then, hubris will kill us all.

There is ONLY ONE community and that's why Obama tried SO hard to organize it, but to no avail.

Nothing about race was mentioned in this article, and yet all the MAGAts are screaming about race. You guys know that DeSantis is a racist, andbyou are too!

I don't agree with Ron DeSantis and I certainly don't agree with the people he has associated with and taken donations from. However, he makes some fairly valid points about the people Gillum has associated with. I'd like to hear from someone at the Gillum campaign to answer to those issues, and for the press to follow up on them as well. I think he was pretty clear and lacked any hysteria as you say, and I'm not really a DeSantis fan, but I think it is important to hold both sides to the same standard.

Gillum has "answered" about the FBI probe. He said the probe is still in him and it hurts.

Tallahassee could not be used as an example as a well run city. Florida is a state that is very difficult to govern, with many, many outside interests. Do your research before you vote, not just by party.

Desantis is correct, Israel is an apartheid state, and a failed one.

If most of the folks who hate Israel travelled to Gaza, they'd be thrown off a rooftop. Israel is the result of genocide by Hitler, with whom Palestinians sided. They made their bed. They also danced in the streets after 9/11. But making Florida's politics about who supports Israel, or who wants yet another undemocratic, failed, chaotic Arab state in its' place is crazy.

The whole Trumpnut Cult is hysterical ... as in bedlam, mayhem, and chaos ... and as in laughable ... and that's naturally what you get with DeSantis. If the GOPs actually wanted to put forth a first-class gubernatorial candidate ... they should have begged David Jolly to run. The Republicans in Florida have turned into a comic strip!

DeSantis begging to realize he is going to lose !

I watched the video. DeSantis does not seem hysterical.

Gosh, not you again going against "whitey." Hysterical? You definitely are. Harvard law graduate, Jag prosecutor, U.S. Senator...and he's hysterical? There are no FBI agents investigating him, Leslie, or any "funny business" in his background.

This is the most racist member of Team G and we really could do with out a repeat of the division that Obama brought. I suggest the editors consider her pieces more thoroughly before publication. De Santis is showing his failings without this kind of writing

The division was brought by the GOP, when it's highest ranking official, Mitch McConnell as senate majority leader, announced: "We're going to make him a one term president" before the Obama was even sworn in.

Well, we can look forward to 'token triggerism' the next 4 years. Not a real word. But, not a real reporter.

Wow blatant racism didn't take long to rear it's ugly head...………….BTW Wimes is normally a repub right wing hack but in this case repubs just went too far, like you...………...And it is your types that is causing decent repubs to leave the party disgusted by what it has become, running off independent, women big time. Thanks!...………….When you ran off Crist, Fasano ? was when repubs jumped the shark in Florida...……….Now thou shall reap what thou has sown..

Crist was, and still is, a chameleon. Nobody ran him off. He was a liberal at heart and just went home.
