While Republican Congressman Jeff Miller has supported expanded offshore oil drilling in the past, the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has changed his mind. He has not ruled out drilling down the road, but Miller is calling for an immediate halt to it until it is determined what happened and how to prevent it in the future Republican Congressman Vern Buchanan remains opposed to offshore drilling. He will be holding a townhall meeting in Palmetto on Saturday on jobs, the economy and health care. With Florida facing record high unemployment, Buchanan said that the economy remains the chief issue in the Sunshine State The spill has not changed the mind of Rep. Ander Crenshaw. With the Obama administration considering pushing for federal immigration reform, it is focusing on bringing over several Republican senators to its side. Chief among them is Florida Republican Sen. George LeMieux Democratic challenger Charlie Justice, looking to move from the state senate to Congress, has released a TV ad linking Congressman C. W. Bill Young, his Republican opponent, to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Young has been in Congress since 1970. With the exception of Karen Moffitt in 1992, none of Youngs Democratic opponents has garnered more than 40 percent against the political veteran...

Conservative businessman Rick Scott threw $5 million of his personal fortune behind his attempts to defeat Obamacare at the national level.
