Veteran member of the Legislature Dan Webster is starting off his bid to knock off U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson with a bang -- the endorsement of former Gov. Jeb Bush. That will help Webster in a crowded Republican primary field that also includes businessman Bruce ODonoghue, Rep. Kurt Kelly, R-Ocala, and Todd Long who ran for the seat in 2008 when he failed to knock off Ric KellerLt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp won the backing of Lake County Sherriff Gary Borders and Volusia County Sheriff Ben Johnson. This means 21 of the 28 Republican Sheriffs in Florida have endorsed Kottkamps bid to be attorney general.

House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, R-Delray Beach, played a hand in leading opposition to the appointment of University of North Florida professor Parvez Ahmed to the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission. Ahmed, a former chairman of the Council of American-Islamic Relations, is under scrutiny for that organizations possible ties to Islamic terroristsBillionaire real estate tycoon Jeff Greene is considering launching a campaign for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate.
