U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is showcasing his child tax credit proposal which was included as part of a congressional deal on tax reform and the budget at the end of last year.

In the summer of 2017, Rubio paired up with U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, to highlight their proposal to expand child tax credits. Rubio and Lee have been pushing tax reform in recent years including adding more child tax credits.

Under their “Economic Growth and Family Fairness Tax Plan,” Rubio and Lee call for allowing an additional $2,500 tax credit to families with children while keeping the current $1,000 tax credit per child in place. “The expanded child tax credit would be refundable up to each taxpayer’s combined federal income and payroll tax liability, and would be counted only after all other tax credits are factored in,” Rubio’s office noted when they brought it out last year.

Rubio got most of what he wanted in the final deal, including raising the tax credit from $1,000 to $2,000, of which $1,400 is refundable though that will increase with inflation up to $2,000, though he did not get the $2,500 he wanted. Around 90 million American families will be impacted by raising the tax credit.

Last week, Rubio toured the Sunshine State to promote the tax credit increase, appearing at an event in the Panhandle with U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and in South Florida with U.S. Rep. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla.

“We had a great discussion with South Florida families today on how the enhanced child tax credit is helping to ease the burden of raising children,” said Rubio on Monday after the event with Curbelo. “These parents work hard to provide for their families, and now because of Republican-led tax reform, they able to keep more of their own money. Today’s roundtable is yet another example of how the enhanced child tax credit is a win for Florida’s working families.”

Wouldn't it be swell if Marco thought as much of his elders that have been contributing and earning in FL and now need a good boost to their SS income checks. Even a lousy $50 would help! Also, I know of many Mexican families that aren't even related claiming these child credits for NON- family children. Maybe he should look into where his credits are going. Cousins, cousins, and more cousins.

Marco ("change location and repeat" Rubio); whatever the topic;...and make sure SOMEONE calls the media, and let them know "Marco Speaks" again and again and again 'ad infinitum'..........................................(REMEMBER: Marco REFUSED to support Trump; AND Marco is one of SIX politicians on George Soros' "regular payroll {McCain, Curbelo, Schumer, Graham, Kaysich..}. Marco is also One of 219 pettifogging lawyers serving under the Congressional Dome...

I guess even someone like Rubio has to do something decent. I still can not understand how he kept his job though, he should have been primaried out of existence.
