Despite the bad blood between them during the presidential primaries, Marco Rubio said he is more than willing to help Donald Trump’s campaign and will go to the GOP convention in Cleveland this summer.

With Trump having enough delegates to secure the nomination, Rubio appeared on CNN on Thursday and said he would release his delegates to back the presumptive nominee.

"I want to be helpful,” Rubio said. “I don't want to be harmful, because I don't want Hillary Clinton to be president."

Rubio said, once again, that he had no interest in being Trump’s running mate but would be willing to help his campaign including speaking at the convention on his behalf.

“He won the nomination and he deserves to have a running mate that more fully embraces some of the things he stands for," Rubio insisted, adding he would not be the “right choice” to be on the ticket.

Still the Florida Republican said he will help Trump in any other way he can.

“I don't want Hillary Clinton to be president,” Rubio repeated. “If there's something I can do to help that from happening, and it's helpful to the cause, I'd most certainly be honored to be considered for that.”

While there’s increased pressure on Rubio to run for a second term in the Senate, the Florida Republican downplayed that possibility. Rubio did leave the door open to a comeback even as he has said he won’t run for the Senate or for vice president in 2016 or for governor in 2018 when Rick Scott faces term limits.

"I can tell you I enjoy public service,” Rubio told CNN. “If there's an opportunity to serve again in a way that I feel passionate about, I'll most certainly think I would explore it,

"But I don't know where I'm going to be in two years,” Rubio added. “I don't know what my life will look like then."

Most of the vanquished Republican presidential hopefuls have thrown their support to Trump with Rick Santorum being the latest defeated candidate to officially back him. But Jeb Bush continues to refuse to endorse Trump. Earlier this week, Trump told a crowd in California that he expected the former Florida governor will come around before November.
