Already under fire from the left, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., is now drawing heat from one of the largest liberal groups in the nation which wants her out as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee.

On Wednesday,  the New York Times ran an interview with the Florida congresswoman and asked her about female voters.

“Do you notice a difference between young women and women our age in their excitement about Hillary Clinton? Is there a generational divide?” asked the New York Times.

“Here’s what I see: a complacency among the generation of young women whose entire lives have been lived after Roe v. Wade was decided,” Wasserman Schultz said.

This drew the fire from CREDO Action which describes itself as a “social change network of 3.9 million activists.” CREDO Action launched a petition on Thursday demanding Wasserman Schultz’s removal at the DNC.

“On Wednesday morning the New York Times Magazine published an interview in which Wasserman Schultz accused young women of ‘complacency’ in the fight for abortion rights,” CREDO Action emailed the media on Thursday. “As the petition notes, this was the latest in a string of unacceptable actions in conflict with the best interest of the progressive base of the Democratic party that make it clear it is time for her to resign as chair of the DNC.”

“As DNC chair, you have repeatedly failed to act in the best interests of progressives and the Democratic Party,” the petition reads. “You have lost the trust of grassroots progressives and Democrats. Please resign immediately.”

Earlier in the week, liberal group RootsAction.org announced it had collected more than 23,000 signatures in the first days of the new year backing Wasserman Schultz’s removal, insisting she was helping Clinton’s presidential bid. Wasserman Schultz had been a key ally in Clinton’s 2008 presidential bid and has limited the number of presidential debates this time out, drawing the fire of supporters of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and former Gov. Martin O’Malley, D-Mary
