Gillum Leads in the Latest Poll, and the Attacks Start Again

June 21, 2018 - 1:45pm

I guess we should have expected it.

What I mean by “it” is the latest round of attacks against Andrew Gillum, or anyone supporting him.

The latest Gravis Marketing poll has Gillum leading the other Democratic candidates.

Gasp! Clutch your pearls, folks.

Something MUST be written to try to slow the momentum of Andrew Gillum. His performance in the debates and forums can’t be matched by ANY of the other candidates.

As noted earlier, Gwen Graham is like watching paint dry. If she wins the nomination, there is a sizable group of Democrats who will NEVER vote for her. Ever.

Philip Levine is like that used car salesman you KNOW is feeding you a line.

Chris King is likeable, but he isn’t going to have people waiting in line for hours to vote for him, a la Barack Obama.

Guess who will? Andrew Gillum.

That is scaring the bejeezus out of some people.

Clearly.

Since the Gravis poll surfaced, showing the PEOPLE are beginning to favor Gillum, the media are losing their collective crap.

I use "collective," because the latest hit is surrounding Collective PAC, the group that ran ads highlighting Gwen Graham’s questionable record in Congress

Now, let’s not harp on the fact that said media don't want to question Graham’s congressional voting record.

Let’s not harp on the fact that said media don't want to question past statements made by Graham about whether she is, or is not, a progressive.

Let’s not focus on the fact that said media treat this woman as if she can’t be vetted like Andrew Gillum seems to be vetted.

Like, for instance, why is it that people who either consider running against her or actually run against her, end up in FBI investigations?

Jackie Pons, anyone?

It’s a known fact that black Democratic candidates do NOT get the same support from the Democratic Party.

It’s a known fact that black Democratic voters do NOT get the same support from the Florida Democratic Party.

Now, what we are seeing here in Florida, is that black Democratic candidates will get slapped down by the media if they DARE step out of their lane.

Well, here is what I say:

If Collective PAC wants to help level the playing field, go for it. If any other organizations out there have the ability to do the same thing, step right on up.

Dark money, light money, pink or purple money.

Access to money has always been the way black candidates have been held down. I guess it would be scary for some to see THAT barrier being taken away.

Andrew Gillum appeals to the people, and thankfully, the people are beginning to see that they don’t HAVE to settle for the status quo just because the status quo is part of the 1 percent.

It’s unfortunate that there aren’t more black political writers in mainstream Florida to balance out the obvious bias against Gillum.

It truly makes a difference.

Well, what do you say now? LOL

But what Leslie Wimes isn't telling people is this poll was paid for by a group affiliated with the Gillum campaign. None of the other polls commissioned, show Gillum in the lead. And another thing I wonder about. Wimes claims to be a progressive, but how come the only websites that will let her write are conservative websites? Phil Levine will win this race and the Governorship because he has a real record of accomplishment, and he doesn't have a cloud of corruption hanging over his head. Leslie Wimes is not a loyal Democrat or the progressive movement. Leslie is loyal to Leslie.

Shhhhh Janice with your help I just figured it out. Leslie is really a conservative operative. Her job is to give hope to the really radical leftist wingnuts who would even consider supporting such an un-American candidate operative of the evil George Soros (AKA fake leaders like Gillum). The goal is to keep those traitorous US voters in their little group thus preventing those idiot voters from spilling over to the normal annoying cheating liberal Democratic party. Shhhh Leslie's really one of us and she's doing a great job. I'm recommending Leslie for a pay raise for her proven ability to make so many of the really radical leftist wingnuts believe that Gillum could even have a chance and buy into that obviously fake "poll". Great job of keeping the really radical leftist wingnuts confined to their tiny playground!!!

I still wonder why those who claim that Wimes has no credibility, insist on reading her articles religiously. I happen to know that Gwen Graham is not liked very much in the black community. Wimes says out loud exactly what a lot of us think.

This is why your have no credibility, zero, none, nothing, nada, etc. 15 polls released Thursday tracked by Florida Politics showed Democratic candidates for Governor with Levine at 27 percent support, former Congresswoman Gwen Graham in a close second at 26 percent, Winter Park businessman Chris King at 15 percent, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum at 8 percent, and Palm Beach billionaire Jeff Greene at 3 percent. BOOM! ass hats...

Go Phil Levine, the next Governor of Florida. Gillum should be in Tallahassee cleaning up his mess at City Hill instead of running for Governor.

This poll is simply wrong Gillum will wind up last on election day !!

This is America 2018 all 50 states governors should be very diverse yet all i see are white faces. This is our chance to shine in all of America to elect the very first black governor. We must put politics aside an come together as people an do the right thing. We shouldn't say lets keep America all white knowing we have black, an spanish people also. What can a white man tell a black man to do with his family? There power hungry. Come November let's starve this animal.

Good Luck, Florida! I just watch Mayor Gillum on the BC and if I lived in Florida, he'd have my vote. It's politics, but he has some good ideas.

Adam Putnam would love it if Gillum won the Dem primary. He'd be delirious. But alas, it is not to be. Gillum does not have enough money to pay his 'people' to vote. That is their only motivation. Adam Putnam will be the next Florida governor by a wide margin.

Oh wow i guess we need to keep Florida white. I guess people like you just can get past jim crow. There has never been a black governor inthe u.s now it's our time to shine.

If Gillum wins, he will actually be the fifth African-American State Governor in US History.

Many people who support Gillum are the same people who support the evil George Soros. There really are not many people in Florida who support the evil George Soros. The remainder of Gillum supporters are color voters and will always blindly support the candidate of color. There are really not many people in Florida who are blind *** color voters. Goodby Gillum!

Don't forget to mention that he is also endorsed by Our Revolution.

Claude, that’s the same thing people said about Obama. Obama won Florida twice. But you knew that, right?

You my dear are a color voter or just uninformed and think Gillum will ride into office on Obama's coat tail. Gillum has a lot of negativity back in good old Tallahassee which his Democratic opponents will not bring up yet for PC reasons as long as Gillum remains in last place. If Gillum really ever does climb up enough in the polls to be perceived a threat then you will see his Democratic opponents starting to throw all that old Tallahassee dirt and mud at him. That my dear is how and when you will know Gillum has a chance at the Governor's Mansion up in good old Tallahassee.

If you truly believed that, there would be no need to comment on this column, and yet here you are, commenting. I don’t think you are so sure. Gillum scares you, doesn’t he?

The media really is trying to kill off Gillum’s campaign. I’ve noticed that despite not being the subject of that FBI investigation, and I too heard that Gwen Graham and her father were behind the smear of Gillum, the media insists on tying Gillum to it. I never read anything about Scott Maddox, who was actually on a warrant. Where are the stories about Paige Carter-Smith? Nothing. Even when they write stories about Adam Corey, they use Gillum’s photo. It’s clear what the media is trying to do. Clear and shameful. What we have to do, though, is continue to support Gillum and vote for him in August.

In my considered opinion, anyone who actually thinks Andrew Gillum is leading all the other Democrats in any legitimate poll and could actually win the nomination is clearly not living in the real world.

I could not have said it better myself!

ANYbody but Adam Putznam!

Count me in the no Graham category too. As a registered Democrat, this will be the first time, if Graham is the nominee, that I will not vote for Governor. I will leave it blank.

Hope you vote for senator and down ballot!

Thank you. The last thing this state needs is Medicaid expansion, investing in education and protecting the environment.

You are lucky she’s the only one I’ve written off.

If you were any Democrat you'd know that it's a crucial election year and by not voting you are automatically electing those on the other side. You probably sat out 2016 too, voted for Bernie or Trump. Go ahead and vote for a Republican, they'd be lucky to have you.

Oh I am going to vote, just not for Gwen Graham if she is the nominee for Governor. I’ll leave that blank.

Fair enough. A wide field of candidates for sure!
