Trump: Jeb Bush Will Come Around

May 25, 2016 - 6:45pm

Jeb Bush will come around and back him, Donald Trump told a crowd in California on Wednesday. Unlike most of Trump’s others dispatched rivals for the Republican presidential nomination, Bush hasn’t endorsed the presumptive nominee. Rick Santorum was the latest former rival to throw his support behind Trump, endorsing him earlier this week.

Speaking in Anaheim, Trump insisted the former Florida governor will eventually support him in November even as he revisited his “low energy” attack on Bush,

“He will get a burst of energy and he will do it," Trump said about Bush, according to Politico.

But Bush, just like his father and his brother, has shown no signs of backing Trump. Earlier this month, the former Florid governor insisted he would not vote for Trump or Hillary Clinton, the favorite for the Democratic nomination.

“The American presidency is an office that goes beyond just politics,” Bush noted. “It requires of its occupant great fortitude and humility and the temperament and strong character to deal with the unexpected challenges that will inevitably impact our nation in the next four years.

“Donald Trump has not demonstrated that temperament or strength of character. He has not displayed a respect for the Constitution. And, he is not a consistent conservative. These are all reasons why I cannot support his candidacy," Bush continued. “Hillary Clinton has proven to be an untrustworthy liberal politician who, if elected, would present a third term of the disastrous foreign and economic policy agenda of Barack Obama.

“In November, I will not vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, but I will support principled conservatives at the state and federal levels, just as I have done my entire life,” Bush concluded. :"For Republicans, there is no greater priority than ensuring we keep control of both chambers of Congress. I look forward to working hard for great conservatives in the Senate and House in the coming months.”

Still, Bush did weigh in Trump’s supporters at an event in Amsterdam this past weekend. According to CNN, Bush said Trump had a “very powerful message” and was a skilled campaigner. Bush also insisted critics should show more respect to Trump voters.

Who cares?

Thanks to Mr. Trump everyone knows about Bush's "Mexican" wife and her influence on his policies. He made that very clear many times. But the GOP must come first so I'm sure Bush will "come around" to supporting him. .

But will Mrs. Bush allow it?
