With no Democratic opponent and a massive campaign-finance advantage, Republican congressman Cliff Stearns looks headed to another term. Stearns is sitting on a huge war chest -- more than $2.6 million cash as of June 30.
Stearns faces former Winter Springs City Councilman Don Browning for the Republican nomination. Browning raised $1,900 in contributions and added $25,000 of his own money to the campaign account. He had less than $1,700 on hand as of June 30.
In November, the winner of the Republican primary will face Dr. Steve Schonberg, a physician who served in the Navy and practices law. Schonberg, a campaign finance reform activist, is running without party affiliation. He gave his campaign more than $10,000 and had more than $3,300 on hand.
