CD 19: Still Recovering from Special Election, But Deutch Looks Safe

July 16, 2010 - 6:00pm

Newly elected U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, a Democrat, will take on Joe Budd who lost out to Ed Lynch in the Republican nomination for the special election earlier this year. Stan Smilian is running as a write-in candidate. Due to the special election, both camps are a little behind with their paperwork. At last glance, Deutch had more than $203,000 in May, while Lynch had more than $2,000 at the end of March.

Lynch will need to build his war chest to knock off Deutch, who won more than 62 percent of the vote in the special election back in April. The Democrat remains a favorite to keep his new job in Congress.
