Attorney General Candidates Take to the Airwaves

July 5, 2010 - 6:00pm

With close races in both the Republican and Democratic primaries for Floridas next attorney general, two of the leading candidates in the race unveiled new commercials on Tuesday as they maneuver for position to win their primary elections Aug. 24.

Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp, locked in a close Republican primary with former Assistant State Attorney Pam Bondi and former Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Holly Benson, unveiled a new television ad Tuesday morning. The ad will be running across Florida and is already airing in Orlando and the Tampa Bay area.

Kottkamp's ad focuses on his endorsements from law-enforcement officials. His campaign had won the backing of the Florida Police Benevolent Association and the Florida Fraternal Order of Police; Kottkamp has also been endorsed by 21 of the 28 Republican county sheriffs in Florida.

The campaign enters a new phase today as we take our message to the airwaves and let Republican voters know why Im law enforcements choice to be Floridas next attorney general, said Kottkamp. Going on TV allows us to communicate directly with voters and continues our positive momentum as we head to the Aug. 24 Republican primary.

While Kottkamp released the commercial, Sen. Dan Gelber, D-Miami Beach, unveiled a Web video of his own Tuesday morning. Facing a close race with Sen. Dave Aronberg, D-Greenacres, for the Democratic nomination, the Gelber team focused on their candidates biography in the new video.

Its a short bio of Dan that highlights his decades of public service and why his experience makes him the candidate the Republican machine doesnt want to see as the Democratic nominee, wrote the Gelber campaign team in a release introducing the new video.
