With two weeks to go until the primary, the two Republicans running for attorney general looked to double down on their law enforcement credentials in TV spots featuring sheriffs from across the Sunshine State.

Last week, former Judge Ashley Moody released a TV ad featuring several Florida sheriffs questioning the credentials of her primary rival state Rep. Frank White, R-Pensacola.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, Franklin County Sheriff A.J. Smith, Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma, Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels, Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith, Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay, Hardee County Sheriff Arnold Lanier and Duval County Sheriff Mike Williams take turns praising Moody and bashing White in the ad.

“Defend the Constitution,” they take turns saying. “Lock up criminals. That’s the job of our attorney general. Prosecutor Ashley Moody’s done it. Politician Frank White hasn’t. White’s lying about Moody’s record to hide his. White’s never prosecuted a case. Not one. White’s a car salesman turned politician—whose old firm gave thousands to liberals. Ashley Moody’s the real conservative.

“Pro-life,” says a narrator. “Pro-Second Amendment. Endorsed by Pam Bondi, stands with Trump.

“We trust Ashley Moody—so can you,” Judd concludes.

White countered on Monday with an ad of his own featuring three law enforcement officials from his Panhandle base: Okaloosa County Sheriff Larry Ashley, Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson and Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan

“Florida sheriffs agree that for attorney general, Frank White has the conservative record we can trust,” the narrator says.

“That’s why Frank White stood with President Trump against illegal immigration and voted to outlaw sanctuary cities in Florida,” Morgan says.

“And why Frank has the highest NRA A+ rating for defending the Second Amendment,” Ashley says.

“Frank White has worked with us in law enforcement to increase penalties on child predators and strengthen the death penalty,” Johnson says.

“Frank White,” the narrator concludes. “Tough. Effective. Conservative. For Attorney General.”
