Former Broward County Deputy Scot Peterson was arrested Tuesday on seven counts of neglect of a child and three counts of culpable negligence and one count of perjury. He was booked into the Sheriff's Office main jail in Fort Lauderdale.

The arrest follows a 15-month investigation into the actions of law enforcement during and after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

Peterson, 56, the school security guard, was on duty during the attack but never went inside, even after he heard shooter Nikolas Cruz repeatedly firing his weapon.

Suspended Student Who Posed with a Gun Needs to Find Herself a Better College

June 1, 2019 - 7:30am
From Dia'mon Dallas' Facebook posting

A student at First Coast Technical College is suing the school after an administrator suspended her indefinitely for, of all things, posing with a handgun at a shooting range and posting the photo on Facebook.

Let's think about this for a minute.

  1. The student, Dia'mon Dallas, wasn't on or near the St. Augustine campus when this posing was going on. She was precisely where she should be. Where better to brandish a firearm than at a shooting range -- this one in Palatka?

  2. The gun was legally purchased.

Blaise Ingoglia

Blaise Ingoglia always was a Big Production kind of guy. It's good to see him reignite his talent for exposing the recklessness of government in videos and seminars by explaining simply and entertainingly what's really going on.

On Tuesday the former Republican Party of Florida chairman and state representative from Spring Hill launched another of his "Government Gone Wild" videos, this one titled “The Illegal Immigration Video Democrats DON’T Want You to See” -- a part of the Democratic playbook most of America misses.

Have a look at the video on this page.

Florida has lost the iconic lawmaker whose name is synonymous with private property rights and with the legislation that, for the last 27 years, has served as a model for other states addressing environmental and land use regulation.

Bert J. Harris, Jr. died Sunday at home with family, a hero in many legal circles and particularly in his Highlands County community -- a citrus farmer and rancher still fighting till the end on behalf of Florida agriculture.

Surprise 'Distribution' of Migrants First Step in President's Border Security and Immigration Plan

May 17, 2019 - 7:30am
Army of Central Americans, mostly Hondurans, march through Mexico towards the U.S. border

The Department of Homeland Security  confirmed Thursday it will transport approximately 500 migrants per month from a Mexican border camp in El Paso to both Broward and Palm Beach Counties, blindsiding Tallahassee and sending unprepared South Florida authorities into a blind panic.

According to Reuters, senior government officials said moving migrants out of camps is the first step in a plan to harden border security and overhaul the legal immigration system to favor applicants who speak English, are well-educated and have job offers.

Tourists Flock to Florida, Breaking All-Time First-Quarter Visit Record

May 15, 2019 - 5:00pm

Talk about bitter ironies.  Today, at the same time beaten-down VISIT FLORIDA was approving a $3.65 million payroll cut and a cut of $17.8 million in strategic marketing -- Florida's tourism-marketing arm was making a different kind of headline.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced this morning that Florida broke an all-time record for visitation during the first quarter of 2019, with 35.7 million people visiting the Sunshine State from January to March. We're looking at a 5.8 percent increase from the first quarter of 2018.
