Dorian Likely to Soak Much of Florida by Labor Day

Most of Florida could see a wet Labor Day weekend, with the East Coast facing tropical-storm force or stronger winds from Tropical Storm Dorian.

In a tweet Tuesday, Gov. Ron DeSantis advised East Coast residents to start preparing for Dorian.

“Based on the current track of #TropicalStormDorian, all residents on the East Coast should prepare for impacts, including strong winds, heavy rain and flooding,” DeSantis tweeted. “Make sure to have your supplies ready and follow @FLSERT (the Florida Division of Emergency Management) and local media for the latest updates on the forecast.”

DeSantis held a conference call with Emergency Management Director Jared Moskowitz and later with the entire state emergency response team.

With South Florida Water Management District meteorologists predicting rainfall of up to 8 inches in some areas over the weekend, the district announced Tuesday it has started to draw down canals to help local drainage districts and governments reduce flooding.

Forecasters remain uncertain on the track and strength of the hurricane season’s fourth tropical storm.

The National Hurricane Center, which expects winds from Dorian to arrive across Florida on Saturday morning, said in its forecast the entire East Coast, from the Georgia border to just north of Key West, is in the cone of probability for landfall Sunday morning.

“Whether it’s a remnant that doesn’t have a chance to regenerate or if it’s a hurricane, it does look like it’s going to take aim on the state of Florida,” said Mark Wool, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Tallahassee. “The track may shift north or south a little bit. Currently, it’s forecast to track in somewhere just south of Cape Canaveral, so somewhere on the East-Central Florida coast.”

The center of Dorian was southeast of Puerto Rico and Hispaniola on Tuesday.

Wood said the current path could lead to mountains in Hispaniola disrupting the system, but Dorian could strengthen “once it passes by those islands and gets to the Bahamas.”

Wool noted the weather service is providing information to Florida State University, whose football team is playing Saturday in Jacksonville against Boise State.

“We are going to be keeping them informed about what conditions are going to be looking like there,” Wool said. “It has happened in the past where football games have been postponed because of tropical systems. We are going to make sure they have that information at the ready to make that call, if the time comes to do so.”

The more Democrats, the warmer the climate goes ! Remember, Heavenly Father never has made a mistake......and didn't when he appointed President Trump till 2024 ! The worry, unless Heavenly Father makes another decision, will be who will continue American Freedoms and Ideals? Remove a Democrat to save America and the World from the thinking of a Socialist or Commy ! Write law to extend President Trump to 2028 ! He must out last Ginsberg, so the GOP can get another American onto the Supreme Court !

We all know that the Democrat party is pissed that Ginsberg didn't resign while Obozo still occupied our White House. Here's to hoping that President Trump gets to replace her post haste. Cheers!

Naw! You're wrong! It's almost entirely Republican hot-air warming the climate. The draft-dodging and racist Pres. Bone Spurs is the worst. Thank God he writes out much of his puerile balderdash on the Twitter website! It' wastes tons of bandwidth - but saves a lot of the hot-air! And, of course, you should look up the definition of "socialism" - because - if you haven't noticed - you're already living in a country designed, built, and governed under the philosophy of Democratic Socialism. Pres. Bone Spurs will lose re-eletion in a landslide - probably worse than Goldwater lost to Johnson in 1964 (61% to 39%) and the Democratic Party will likely become the majority in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate - you know - just like it was in "The Great American Century" when the Democratic Party controlled both the House and Senate for forty years - 1954-1994. (And, there's probably little question that when the Democrats win, they'll remodel the Supreme Court and reverse all the damage caused by Pres. Bone Spurs and his main enabler, Moscow Mitch, in this sad excuse for a presidential administration.) Note, also, according to the Bible, Book of Revelation, 13:5 ... "The beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and the beast was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months". Could that be referring to Pres. Bone Spurs and predicting that, one way or another, his term in office will come to its conclusion on July 21, 2020? (If so - HOORAY!)

We shall fight your national socialism just as we did in the 1940s.

Global Warming!! Global Warming!! Global Warming!!

Bull Hockey, Bull Hockey, Bull Hockey. We have had storms since creation!
