On Friday, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that the unemployment rate in Florida rose slightly to 3.5 percent in February. It had been 3.4 percent in January. DeSantis took over at the start of the second week in January from then Gov. Rick Scott.

DeSantis showcased the state outpaced the nation when it came to job growth. While the nation saw 1.9 percent job growth last month, Florida saw 2.7 percent job growth.

“Florida’s economy is working,” said DeSantis. “We have to continue this success by keeping taxes low and regulations limited, supporting policy to make Florida the best state for career and technical education, and making important investments in the environment and Florida’s infrastructure.”

“Florida’s continued private-sector job growth supports Governor DeSantis’ vision for our state,” said Executive Director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Ken Lawson. “Our shared commitment to ensuring all Floridians have opportunity, which includes helping communities recover from hurricanes, is encouraging businesses across the country to start, expand and move to Florida. Our agency stands ready to assist all Floridians in succeeding and achieving their economic goals.”

Over the past year, almost 212,000 jobs were created in Florida with professional and business services leading the way at 50,600 new jobs followed by education and health services with 40,700 news jobs and 32,000 new jobs in trade, transportation, and utilities.

Monroe County had the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 2.4 percent followed by St. Johns County at 2.9 percent and Okaloosa County and Wakulla County at 3.0 percent each.

Gulf County had the highest unemployment rate in the state at 6.2 percent followed Citrus County at 5.3 percent and Hardee County and Sumter County at 5.1 percent.

That's simply because there ain't much grass to be cut in February and there ain't a big need to load the swimming pools with chlorine in the winter, either!

One of the most strained and indefensible statements I've seen spinning a Governor's first month in office --> "Florida’s continued private-sector job growth supports Governor DeSantis’ vision for our state" . . . . . who believes such nonsense . . . . . . go ahead, try and prove cause and effect associated with a minor increase in in unemployment (also, having nothing to do with DeSantis being in office) . . . . . . . partisan political spin . . . . . . PATHETIC . . .

You and I both know that if the democrat party had held the state government positions of control that the Republicans have held for the past eight years, our economy would be grounded to a halt by intrusive government.

So ... you're an anarchist? Hell, man, that's W-A-Y worse than being a socialist. And probably even worse than being a fascist!
