Two familiar faces in Florida politics -- former U.S. Rep. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla., and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum -- will be headed to Harvard in the months to come.

On Thursday, the Institute of Politics (IOP) at Harvard Kennedy School announced 10 Resident and Visiting Fellows for the Spring 2019 semester including Curbelo and Gillum who both went down to defeat in the 2018 elections.

First elected to Congress in 2014, Curbelo served on the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee and often criticized the Trump administration on issues ranging from immigration to climate change. Curbelo helped found and lead the Climate Solutions Caucus in the House. He narrowly lost his seat to Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in November.

Appealing to the left, Gillum won the Democratic gubernatorial nomination back in August. He lost to Republican Ron DeSantis in a close contest back in November.

“The IOP Fellows program is central to our mission of inspiring students to public service and active citizenship,” said IOP Director Mark Gearan. “We are eager to bring together this extraordinary group of fellows who will provide students with the opportunity to learn from their experiences running for office, building grassroots advocacy campaigns, and making public policy.”

“The Institute is honored to welcome these outstanding fellows who will share their valuable and diverse perspectives, encourage civil discourse, and inspire the next generation to public service,” said Amb. Caroline Kennedy, the honorary chairwoman of the Senior Advisory Committee at the Institute of Politics and the daughter of President John F. Kennedy.

Other resident fellows include former U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock, R-Va., while former U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-ND, former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu and former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter will serve as visiting fellows.

“The Fellows program is why a lot of students decide to come to Harvard – it’s very unique,” said Elijah DeVaughn and Kate Krolicki, the student co-chairs of the Fellows and Study Groups program at the Institute of Politics. “With all the changes happening in the world today, the Harvard community is lucky to have the chance to learn from, and challenge, the broad spectrum of perspectives this group of elected officials, advocates, and policy leaders brings to campus.”

Loser communist = Harvard resident fellow. Liberals destroy everything they touch, majority of U.S. universities are proof. No wonder trade schools are experiencing a boom while 'colleges' churn out social justice warriors whose major employment venue is paid protesting.

Just one more example of four decades of "Affirmative Action's" debiliting effect upon our education system, as well as our nation

Cool

A sad statement from the School that gave us the man that said: "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

Harvard has descended a looong way DOWN from its former reputation...(Proof that the Liberal "inmates" have captured the institution..!

So, Mr. (or maybe Mrs.) Blowhard, doesn't that make Harvard graduate, Gov. Ron DeSantis, little more than a 'liberal' dumbbell???

My kid was correct not wasting her dollars on a Harvard graduate degree!! Never mind opening doors, a UF MBA top scholar fellowship has served her well! Especially as Harvard now caters to all the worst in politics and philosophy.

The useful idiots, raised by government indoctrination centers, with believe their lies & applaud them,God help this country!

Dumbing Harvard down! Pick losers to teach young minds how to be winners? Hardly what one would expect from Harvard!

So, did Ron DeSantis graduate from Harvard BEFORE the "dumbing down" happened - or is he just another one of the more current "Harvard losers"?

BTW, Blue, Where did you graduate? Or did you?

Don't know about either of those , but one thing he is Blue, your governor!
