The Devil Is in the Hidden Details of Amendment 13

October 23, 2018 - 1:15pm

Words have meaning. Amendment 13 to the Florida Constitution has “hidden words.” These words are hidden from voters. These hidden words will not be on your ballot, but if Amendment 13 passes they will go into the Constitution.

A circuit court judge actually called Amendment 13 an “outright trickeration” and an attempt to “hide the ball” from voters.

The actual amendment that would go in the Constitution contains the words: “The humane treatment of animals is a fundamental value of the people of the State of Florida.”

Nowhere in the amendment is “humane treatment of animals” defined. Therefore, it is left entirely up to radical animal rights organizations and their sympathizers to define those words. That is what they intend.

If this amendment were really about greyhound racing or wagering on greyhound races, why did animal rights radicals carefully craft and insert hidden language in the amendment?

If, as some have claimed, those words mean nothing substantive, why are they there?

Do they really expect intelligent people to believe they want to insert words that mean nothing in the Constitution?

Make no mistake, these extremists will use those “hidden words” to ban common, traditional activities involving farm animals, pets, working dogs, cattle dogs, medical support animals and wildlife.

That’s why extremist animal rights leaders like Marty Irby, the executive director at Animal Wellness Action in Washington, D.C., are trying to divert attention away from the hidden words and make NRA the issue.

Marty Irby even mounted a blatant political attack on the NRA in a desperate attempt to focus attention away from the hidden agenda of Amendment 13. (October 17, 2018, in TC Palm)

Animal rights leaders are in a panic. Their attempt to use hidden words to establish a legal foothold in the Florida Constitution that they can use to bring lawsuits to ban legitimate activities, like hunting, fishing and farming activities has been exposed.

They don’t want people to realize that greyhound racing is camouflage designed to help hide their complete agenda.

In fact, the list of some of the activities animal extremist organizations find objectionable is huge and includes hunting, fishing, farming, animal husbandry, marine parks and more. That’s what this is really about. Some groups even claim animals shouldn’t be owned as pets because it’s inhumane.

If you own a pet, drink milk, eat meat, eat fish, use animals to work on your farm, hunt, fish, train dogs, raise cattle, horses or other animals, or take your children or grandchildren to petting zoos to learn about animals, then you should be alarmed.  Amendment 13 could be used to take all of that away from you.  Vote NO on Amendment 13.  The devil is in the hidden details.

Boar and deer

This amendment is a Trojan Horse. As an animal owner, your rights will be stripped away by radical animal rights extremists. The framers of this amendment have ties to domestic terrorist organizations (ALF - Animal Liberation Front).

More hysteria claims from the NRA and radical right. Here are the facts. In allowing the amendment to stay on the ballot, six of the seven Justices on the Florida Supreme court (who are lawyers and now judges with years of training and experience reading and interpreting legal documents) disagree with her. They wrote: "If Amendment 13 is adopted, therefore, the only activities which will change in a material way are dog racing in Florida and wagering thereon, which will cease." End of story and all of the BS about the gov't coming for your pets, meat, fish, etc. It's crazy, but wing nuts are actually buying this crap... Too funny.

Please include that 2 of the 3 lawyers APPOINTED by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to the Constitutional Revision Commission voted AGAINST amendment 13 from being put on the ballot, and 1 Hank Coxe wrote a op-Ed about how the commission was “larded up” with political agendas! If they cared about the dogs they would not of allowed an amendment by Jeanette Nunez that allows the tracks to quit racing on December 31,2018 while protecting the gambling but not 1 dollar for 1 dog? Now who is inhumane and caring? But no e verify or open primaries was allowed to go on the ballot because it affected to many of the commissioners agendas

So when the extremists focus on their next target, can that opinion be used to stop them in their tracks?Or is that when we’ll find out that the judges words have no legal bearing, whatsoever. Maybe their statement should also be written into the constitution then, ya know... just in case.

I don't believe you. Incrementalism is one of the lefts trademark strategies.

That’s what the judges say now. Can you 100% guarantee some so-called animal rights group is not going to try to ban dog shows, horse racing, dog agility, coursing, and even using dogs as service animals to assist those who need them, oh and don’t forget K-9 police dogs. If this were to pass, all that I have mentioned just become easier to go after.

As previously noted, "Inhumane treatment of animals is a concern of Florida citizens," is already in the Florida Constitution, Section 21. It is intended "To prevent cruelty to certain animals, which is exactly what this proposed amendment does.

That is the farthest thing from the truth what this amendment.does! They don't care about preventing cruelty! They want to control us! They want to take away our rights to be owned by animals! This is just hidden way to get that ball rolling

Nope..read the Florida Constitution as it stands today. That judge needed to read it as well. That's why the Supreme Court, that has a pretty good chance of knowing more than us, said the only thing the Amendment pertains to is Greyhound racing and the wagering. The fundamental rights of animals , statement is ALREADY in the constitution, it reiterates the fact.

Boom....mic drop.

I guess that is why Idaho said *** dog races is a felony, because there is nothing to it, right grey2k friend of terrorists?

Perhaps you should move to Idaho dipshit...

Perhaps you should stop supporting criminals liar

I'm onto you. Check your six.

That's a threat and you should be called out by everyone. And, yes, I believe you would come up from behind.

And these same justices are right 100% of the time. BOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ms. Hammer needs to go away. She has done nothing but cause harm to the State of Florida and to our Nation by pushing these crazy gun rights laws that border on free reign for shooters.

And you, are a moron, do you honestly think if guns are taken away there will be no more school shootings? The way to minimize that is to arm teachers, just like our great president said. God sent Trump to save America from you whacko liberals, shoving gay and transgender rights down our throats. Far more NRA supporters in Florida than you vegan wingnuts

Pay no mind to the trolls. They are all hired to spread fake propaganda. They are not legitimate. They are assigned their fake responses. They do not have a single clue of what they are even talking about.

Oh Honey, you need to talk to somebody about all that anger and hostility sugar...

Hope you don't have any guns...scary.

Have quite a few actually

Andy, you need help dude...

You're the one who needs help, it's my guy in the oval office

He needs help too... That cat is unhinged...and his wife is a damn fool. It must just be for the money...

He isn't running around apologizing for America, is he? Strongest economy in decades, record defense budgets. You only have 6 more years of him.

I wouldn't bet on that there Andy like you do the dogs...

I bet on him last time pal, and will again, TRUMP2020
