Markeis McGlockton Is Dead. Where Is Rick Scott?

July 30, 2018 - 2:00pm

Where is Rick Scott?

When Markeith Loyd killed his girlfriend and a police officer, indirectly caused the death of another police officer, and the death penalty wasn’t put on the table, Rick Scott was all over the case like white on rice.

When State Attorney Aramis Ayala decided that her interpretation of charging allowed her to cease applying the death penalty, Rick Scott was all over Aramis Ayala.

In fact, Scott battled Aramis Ayala all the way to Florida’s Supreme Court.

Aramis Ayala is black.

Markeis McGlockton is dead. He died at the hands of a vigilante, Michael Dreijka, who decided to confront McGlockton’s girlfriend over a parking spot.

After McGlockton shoved Dreijka to the ground, Dreijka pulled out a gun. McGlockton is seen on video backing away. The situation was de-escalating.

Dreijka still shot and killed McGlockton.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri has elected not to charge Dreijka at all, citing his interpretation of Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law.

Bob Gualtieri is white.

In a Politico article this morning, NRA lobbyist Marion Hammer, the mother of Stand Your Ground, along with lawmaker Dennis Baxley, the father of Stand Your Ground, have both said Bob Gualtieri’s interpretation is wrong.

Republicans, who for the most part, have fallen in line with every pro-gun action, even those that lead to death, aren’t falling in line with this one.

That should tell you something.

That should tell Rick Scott something.

Scott decided to pit himself against Aramis Ayala, a black elected official, for her interpretation of the application of the death penalty. By the way, no case taken from Ayala has resulted in the death penalty.

The silence of Rick Scott on the actions of a white elected official, in a case that led to the murder of Markeis McGlockton is deafening.

The fact that Bob Gualtieri is a white Republican elected official, and Aramis Ayala is a black Democratic elected official, isn’t lost on me.

It shouldn’t be lost on anyone.

Bob Gualtieri, in not arresting Michael Dreijka, made it easier for any racist to initiate a confrontation, which Dreijka did, knowing he was strapped, and kill any black person he/she sees and get away Scott-free. Rick Scott-free.

Where are you Rick Scott?

Speak up, unless you co-sign on this behavior.

You are the governor for ALL Floridians, including those who don’t look like you, or vote like you.

Republicans have said Gualtieri was wrong in not arresting Dreijka.

Democrats have said Gualtieri was wrong in not arresting Dreijka.

It’s time for something other than deflection, GOVERNOR Scott.

It’s time for you to step in, just like you did with Aramis Ayala.

Clearly Bob Gualtieri does not know how to handle Stand Your Ground cases. Are you going to reassign any Stand Your Ground case that comes his way?

I won’t hold my breath.

Please give me an example where a Gun, untouched by Human hands, has actually Killed someone. The World awaits that Historical example!!

So you don't think people have a right to defend themselves! I hope you get attacked we will see if that changes your time.

This had nothing to do with race but everything to do with one person attacking another. In this case the attacker got the stupid prize. Stop trying to turn a case of self defense into something it's not.

From start to finish, this had everything to do with race. From Dreijka not minding his business and confronting a woman, to Dreijka shooting a man because he is a coward, to Gualtieri covering for Dreijka.

You failed utterly and completely to identify any racial aspect. Is there some law guaranteeing immunity from criticism specifically to black women who illegally park in handicap spots of which I am unaware? Is there some law guaranteeing no consequences for committing illegal violent battery specifically for black men I am unaware of?

Sorry, but the black man was the aggressor. So maybe it was a hate crime and the black man hated whites?

Because the aggressive white boy was confrontational with the girlfriend! I don't know about you, but I would expect my man, husband, male friends to stand up for me as a female if that coward continued me too. Why didn't he confront the Male? Because that coward was looking for trouble. And it wasn't the first time, the store owner said this was an ongoing problem with the coward

Jesus get it through your heads: You are not justified in committing battery because somebody is "confrontational" over how your girlfriend parks. There is also no right that I am aware of for people who park illegally in handicap spots to be free from criticism.

Dreijka is a murderous racist, given an assist by Bob Gualtieri.

McGlockton was the one that committed a criminal battery of a person of the opposite race for no reason. Using your "logic" McGlockton was the racist.

Stand your ground shouldn't even be needed here. It's a simple self defense for someone who was blatantly slammed to the ground by an arrogant bully, who had no respect for the laws that protect us from the anarchy that he and others of your 'community' willingly and aggressively promote. Rick Scott has nothing to do with this. You and your 'community' just keep up the divisive race BS, and 'We The People' will soon have enough of it and end it for you.

End it for us? Is that another threat by a weak coward who starts crap, but needs a gun because HE is too much of a weakling to come at anyone but Women?

You can’t start a fight, just because you are armed, and use SYG to murder someone. That’s what Dreijka did. Scott needs to speak up!

He didn't start a fight. He made completely legal and 100% constitutionally protected verbal remarks which do not justify the criminal battery that McGlockton committed against him.

I see the sheets and hoods are out, mad cause Leslie makes a valid point. If speaking up about the attack on black bodies is playing the race card, deal me in!!! Stand Your Ground has to GO!!

Excuse me this was black man attacking white man, not the other way around.

No, this was a white man attacking a black woman, and because he isn’t man enough to actually fight a REAL man, he used a gun.

Your argument is absurd. Drejka didn't attack anyone. He simply complained to McGlockton's girlfriend that she parked in a handicap space. The sheriff investigating the case has made it clear that there is no evidence that Drejka made any threats and there were witnesses who were interviewed.

Agree!!!

Florida! The new 'Deadwood'! Or maybe 'Dodge City'? Or ''Tombstone'?

Weak people...with weak arguments always play the race card. It has become sickening!

And she gets away with these rants all the time because, she’s ????

Watch out Leslie! Tom Robinson may try to shoot you and scream “Stand Your Ground” defense! Your mere skin color makes him fear for his life!!!

Gualtieri, McCabe, and Scott will be yucking it up at a fundraiser.

Exactly, Leslie!! We know why Scott isn’t weighing in on this one!!

Give it up Leslie... Let law enforcement, prosecutors, the Attorney General, and the Courts do their jobs; and stop making EVERYTHING a "Black & White" political issue and fomenting public "demonstrations" where none are necessary... I always believed you were bigger than that...

Way to play that race card Leslie. You are correct in one respect. Governor Scott should release a statement to the effect that Floridians have nothing to fear from stand your ground as long as you don't make it a habit of going around assaulting people. Almost 2 million Floridians can legally carry a firearm for protection so if you do, there's a chance it may go bad for you.

Yes! I agree.
