Gov. Rick Scott was in Miami with First Lady Ann Scott and Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera on Wednesday to visit LR Uniforms and highlight the back-to-school sales tax holiday set to begin Friday, Aug. 3 and end at the close of business Sunday, Aug. 5.

See his video announcement here

During this holiday, Floridians will not be charged sales tax on supplies for the upcoming school year, saving families $32.7 million. Gov. Scott reminded a gathered crowd that since he took office in 2011, taxes have been cut nearly 100 times, saving Floridians more than $10 billion. The 2018 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday was passed by the Florida Legislature and  enthusiastically signed into law by Scott.

Items qualifying for sales tax exemption include certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item; and clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $60 or less per item.

Anybody ever try trading Emini S&P before? It's great I love it. I'm doing the Emini S&P Trading Secret method, it really works great. Just Google “Emini S&P Trading Secret “ you should be able to find it.

So, "Claude". no Republicans on welfare? No Republicans on Medicare? No Republicans collecting Social Security retirement? All those "hardworking (Republican) citizens" want all the benefits ... but aren't willing to pay the taxes necessary to pay for the benefits? How much do you think those "hardworking citizens" spend on each kid for "back to school" items? $200? $300? $400? Big deal! So those parents save $14. $21. $28. ??? What about all those "hardworking citizens" that don't have any kids going to school? What do they get out of it? This whole thing is just a Republican election chimera. Just a lotta hot air.

If you realized how much our school teachers pull out of their own pockets for school supplies and the indifference of the RPOF to public schools, the channeling of money to private charter schools, you would see the hypocrisy of Rick Scott using the event to gain votes. But the kids at all the charter, church and home-schools need supplies too. Once the public school system is gutted, you guys can privatize what's left of it.

Ask not what Rick Scott will do for his country... ask what Rick Scott will do for himself. The back to school tax break is not the creation of Rick, but some would say devastation of the environment is. I would say that. I am starting to see environmental concern creeping into reporting about Republicans, after all, they own most of the waterfront palaces being slimed by it.

Pitiful comment "Claude". Maybe Scott will carry with him on tour photos of the toxic algae damage across Southwest Florida, including "Naples" where he lives - when away from Texas. For 8 years, it been on "his watch". https://www.naplesnews.com/story/news/local/2018/07/14/floridas-algae-crisis-how-affecting-businesses/783906002/

Bobby Bobby Bobby you forgot to harp on your boogie man that only gets dredged up every election cycle. Thats right Bobbie I'm talking about your fav boogie man "Big Sugar". Your slipping up in your old age Bobbie. Or is it Bobby?

This is a win for Florida and Scott. Should the leftist Democrats ever regain power they will stop this tax free back to school program. Greedy leftists will never cut any tax breaks for hard working citizens.
