On Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., announced he was backing state Rep. Matt Caldwell, R-Leigh Acres, in next month’s Republican primary to replace term limited Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam.

Rubio announced his support of Caldwell on Wednesday afternoon, insisting he was more conservative than primary opponents state Sen. Denise Grimsley, R-Lake Placid, former state Rep. Baxter Troutman and retired Army Col. Mike McCallister who ran for governor in 2010 and for the U.S. Senate in 2012.

“As the most conservative candidate in the race for commissioner of agriculture, Matt Caldwell has been an unwavering supporter of the Second Amendment, consistently voted to cut taxes and reduce the size of government, and is a staunch supporter of the right-to-life,” Rubio said in his endorsement. “There is no harder working or more qualified candidate in the race for commissioner of agriculture and I urge all Floridians to vote for Matt Caldwell this August and November.”

“I’m proud to have Senator Rubio’s endorsement,” Caldwell said. “In the race for commissioner of agriculture, I am working from the winning playbook of Senator Marco Rubio in 2010 when he was the underdog candidate and won because he was the most conservative and the hardest working.”

Caldwell then threw a job at his opponents before insisting he was the “true conservative” in the field.

“Unlike my opponents, I have never voted against our Second Amendment rights, to expand Obamacare in Florida, or to raise taxes on hard working Florida families,” Caldwell said. “As the true conservative candidate in the race, I am battle-tested and ready to stand on principle for Florida’s families.”

Three Democrats are running in their party’s primary: attorney Nikki Friend, Homestead Mayor Jeff Porter and biologist and activist R. David Walker.

"Little Marco" should have checked this dude's background and pure knowledge necessary to manager "Agriculture". Being conservative alone does not make him a good candidate!

What about the bozo's qualifications? Why should we vote for him? Reasons presented here are not enough.

Little Rubio endorsing? Ugh! I think not!

I was starting to think (just a little) that Rubio was becoming a little less ideological of late ... but I guess not. Caldwell graduated from FGCU in 2004 with a degree in history and eventually got a job as a real estate appraiser! What the h*ll does he know about agriculture and management ??? Sounds like most of Trump's appointees (DeVos? Carson? etc.).

Caldwell gets the Kiss of Death from obstructionist RINO Marco Rubio. Meanwhile, leftist/socialists heads are exploding because they misunderstood Marco's anti-Trump behavior thinking Marco was becoming their friend. Now the whole country is against Marco except the other RINOs who ran against Trump and the remaining RINOs in Washington DC who are about to be voted out of office. Let's see Marco that's about 175 people in the whole country who would possibly vote for you. But most of them do not live in Florida so they can not vote for Marco. Oh wait a minute Marco that's 177 votes!! Because I forgot to count you and your wife. Maybe 179 if John McCain and his wife could move to Florida real quick and vote for Marco. Marco finds himself with no voters on the right, left, or center who will support him.

HA HA HA

Oh wait a minute Marco, I forgot, polls indicate there's an 87.33% probability Low Energy Jeb will be napping on election day. So you rely on one less vote when you are stroking a check to the printer for those "Thanks For Voting for Marco" mail out cards just before you shut down your political account. There now saved you some money! You are welcome!

I was starting to like Marco too after he showed some stones by attending the CNN Parkland Town Hall, knowing it would be an ambush while Ricky hid. He let the high school kids, still in shock, say their piece and he actually "stuck to his guns" on the issue. (Of course claiming the NRA supports him and not the other way around was a bit rich). He was starting to show some chutzpah, like he was growing up or something, but it's really all about making Big Sugar happy, and Matt Caldwell is their boy. So is Marco. Follow the money. Birds of a feather. One lump or two?

Only god old boy system that exists is in the State Senate amongst those who will water down their principles to vote for the establishments bidding. Looks like the other two republicans in this race watered voted to raise taxes and against guns. Sad.

The “good old boy” system at it’s finest!!
