Towards the end of last week, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., paired up with U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., to unveil a proposal to hamper Chinese influence in the U.S.

Rubio and Cortez Masto brought out the “Countering the Chinese Government and Communist Party’s Political Influence Operations Act.” The proposal would have the U.S. Secretary of State and the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) create an interagency task force to examine how China attempts to influence the U.S. and key allies. Under the bill, the task force is called on to make a recommendation to the White House and Congress on whether to create a permanent office to monitor to China’s attempts to influence American politics.

On Thursday, Rubio made the case for his proposal.

“To effectively combat the Chinese Government and Communist Party’s political influence operations, we must better understand the full scope and breadth of their efforts,” Rubio said. “This bill, which requires an unclassified interagency report, aims to do just that, not only for policymakers, but for the American people, media, academia and other impacted sectors.”

“Given evidence of growing efforts by the Chinese government to undermine democratic institutions in the U.S. and abroad, it is incumbent on the United States government to protect our national security and our democracy from any foreign, political influence,” Cortez Masto said. “This bipartisan bill sets necessary requirements for the government to investigate and report on potential Chinese government influence, and allow the United States to create a strategy that will counter threats to our democracy.”

Rubio was able to round up some of the leading conservatives in the Senate to back his proposal with Republican U.S. Sens. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and Ted Cruz of Texas signing on as cosponsors. On the other side of the aisle, U.S. Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., is also cosponsoring the bill.

This should have indicated communist in general, as Russia is our biggest threat in this regard, but 45 has his head so far up Putin's backside, he would never sign it anyway...

Ditto, Rep Conscience, When is Rubio going to wake up? He is becoming quite embarrassing. Talk about the Dems needing to wake up and take a look at themselves, the "never Trumpers" in the Republican Party need to do so as well. I thought with Trump winning, my days of having to hold my nose to vote for the "cave-in" Republicans was over. Guess I was wrong. We need every Republican we can get this coming November but Collins, Rubio, McCain, McConnell and the like don't make it easy.

He should spend his time doing real people's business!

Rubio's basic ignorance about China is showing. China is eating our lunch, not because of propaganda (like the Russians) but because of it's culture, it's smarts and Confucian history. It looks long term and deals with the real world as it is and accommodates. Like a tree that bends with the wind - not breaks because of rigidity and a rotten core. htpps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confucianism

Rubio is not ignorant he is such an obstructionist he will sell out his country to hurt Trump. Big picture: Rubio is just as dangerous to you, your kids, and your grandkids as Bernie Sanders. WORD.

Are you getting tired of Little Marco playing to the cameras in search of relevance? Everyday it is a new "issue of the day." All I want to know about Little Marco is the he will support Trump, 100% on Immigration Policy, Trade, Taxes, Reducing Government and Judicial Appointments. I don't think I can take 6 years of this guy running for President.
