Leadership Blue or Leadership Gillum?

July 2, 2018 - 11:00am

This past weekend Florida Democrats convened at the Hollywood Diplomat for their big-ticket fundraiser.

Leadership Blue is what it’s called, but based on the reaction from those in attendance, it should have been called “Leadership Gillum.”

The keynote speaker was Jay Inslee, but it should have been Andrew Gillum, given the reaction he evoked from the crowd.

Jay Inslee? Who?

Inslee, the chair of the Democratic Governors Association and current governor of the state of Washington, barely made a blip on the radar.

The other gubernatorial candidates? Gwen Graham, Philip Levine, Chris King, and Jeff Greene.

Sharing a stage with Andrew Gillum has to be hard. In fact, Gwen Graham got the short end of the stick. She had to follow Gillum.

Graham speaking alone is boring enough. Following a dynamic Andrew Gillum made Graham worse than her usual paint-dry self.

Whoever chose that lineup doesn’t like her.

I see why Graham and Levine backed out of the Orlando debate. They can’t compete with Gillum on stage.

Journalists reporting on the event noted that Gillum received the most applause as he walked to the stage (to Migos’ "Walk It Like I Talk It") -- during his speech, and after.

It is clear that Andrew Gillum has the message it takes to fire up voters.

With the boost from billionaire Tom Steyer, initially $1 million, and boots on the ground, Gillum is going to have the resources he needs to get that message to the people who need to hear it.

President Obama had Stevie Wonder’s "Signed, Sealed, Delivered."

Now, Florida Democrats can’t get enough of Gillum and Migos’ "Walk It Like I Talk It."

In the end, isn’t that what we want our politicians to do, walk it like they talk it?

right message, wrong person...too much baggage...

Gillum just embarrasses the other candidates on the campaign trail when he speaks, then they speak. Remember Republicans prayed to God that Obama beat Hillary. They KNEW they would beat Obama. Then reality set in and we kicked them in the teeth. Gwen Graham is worse than Hillary Clinton from a connection standpoint. She is a porcelain robot who would be nowhere in this race were it not that she is Bob Graham's daughter. People know that. She would depress turnout even if Obama was her LG candidate!!

What is Leslie going to do when Phil Levine wins the nomination? Fall back into irrelevance, writing for right-wing blogs because progressive blogs refuse to promote her? lol.

Janis Saxon had this to say about Philip Levine before he started paying her to troll: Janis Saxon February 28, 2017 at 8:22 am On Miami Beach, He says ‘Yes” to his friends and business associates and screws over local residents and everyone else. He was terrible for Miami Beach. All is civic projects are over budget and server little real local purpose other than to generate publicity for himself. His ‘Convention Center” is $100 million over budget and not half the project that he took off the table when he came into office that would have costs taxpayers ZERO. A recent survey shows over 70% of residents think that Miami Beach is heading in the wrong direction under his leadership. Crime is way up- but he won’t let the police file reports to document it because it would make him look bad. He hires his own PR person at taxpayers expense and blocks all dissenting opinion on social media because he is so think skinned he can’t handle honest disagreement. He has been a huge failure for Miami Beach and he would be an even bigger failure for Florida.

That video doesn’t do justice to the applause Gillum received! If the enthusiasm shown for a Gillum Saturday night is any indication of how people will vote, he’s in great shape! Additionally, there were far more white Dems in attendance than black. Those that say Gillum only appeals to black voters have another thing coming!

Wimes always carries her knee pads when she's interviewing Gillum. She sounds like a kid in a candy store. "More!, more!, more! Gillum's wife should keep a close eye on her. Dems have no chance this year.

Hey Dave Manning, sounds like you may be jealous that you can’t get on YOUR knees for Gillum! Usually those that talk about it, want it for themselves!

He's incredible - I call him a pragmatic progressive - his platform is as exciting as he is! To those making nasty comments here, I'm sorry but your time is up - it's time for real leadership at the helm in Florida - Andrew Gillum will be a governor ALL of us can be proud of!!

Putnam will crush Crooked Gillum in the debates, polls and election.

The "Dumocratic Party" look like a one-man band! Save your contributions, folks = support those in need by giving to Charitable Foundations instead of Commy PACs...

You blew half your brain cells coming up with that comment, didn’t you?

Well Leslie, it was powerful, so that can occur. Unlike your sheepish and lavish endorsements of Gillum. Are you two lovers? Save your "journalism" for the hotel.

You are big mad about the possibility of Gillum winning. I support Gillum too, so does that mean I’m sleeping with him? How about all of those people cheering him on? They sleeping with him too? This is precisely why voices like Leslie’s are needed.

I don’t know about Leslie, but I’d sure do him! Have you seen how hot he is?? His wife is a lucky woman!!!

And he only had two brain cells! Now he’s down to one!

I have to hand it to him. Gillum can excite the crowds. The question is, will they indeed VOTE!

Yeah keep in mind the crowd he excited was likely paid to be there and paid to be excited. Gillum has to spend his recent big time donations in that way to trick more wealthy idiots who love the evil George Soros into donating more big time money to Gillum. What money Gillum does "legitimately" spend will go to further excite the base that was going to already vote for him anyway. No way this Bozo is gonna win. I do like to watch a good clown show for entertainment though!!!

Who hurt you Claude? I see your pain, and I want to bring you some joy. Hurt people try to hurt people, and clearly you are butthurt!!

Leadership Gillum!!

In most of Florida ... the Democratic Party is a non-entity. Non-competitive. Goin' nowhere - doin' nuthin'!

I was there. Gillum’s speech moved the crowd moreso than anyone else. This guy has the “it” factor!!

Let's face it, Andy has no shot. He's not socialist enough. Can't believe the current Dem party is going into these elections with a platform that looks like something out of Karl Marx. Even the stupid party will beat these fools like a red headed stepchild.
