Greg Steube Wants to Repeal Daylight Saving Time

State Sen. Greg Steube, R-Sarasota, is planning to introduce a bill ending Daylight Saving Time (DST) in Florida.

“Daylight Saving Time is the practice of turning the clock ahead as warmer weather approaches in the spring and back as it becomes cold again in the fall, so that people will have one more hour of daylight in the afternoon and evening during the warmer season of the year,” Steube noted in an email on Tuesday. “Daylight Saving Time is also called ‘summer time.’ Currently, the United States is in Standard Time, also called ‘winter time.’ This means it gets darker earlier in the afternoon and evening.

“I am drafting legislation to abolish the time switch in Florida,” Steube added.

Steubue chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee and is the vice chairman of the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee.

Most of the nation uses DST but there are some exceptions including Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and oversea territories including American Samoa and Guam.

Abolish DST!!

We should have daylight savings time year round.

If he wants to pass the bill it better be to stay on day light savings all year long and not on EST.

Good for him. I hope it's enacted as law.

Why?
