Last week, businessman, former CIA officer and Army veteran Todd Wilcox, who ran for the U.S. Senate in Florida, resumed his political activities, backing Republican state Rep. Mike Miller who is looking to dethrone freshman U.S. Rep. Stephanie Murphy, D-Fla.

Miller named Wilcox as the chairman of his campaign finance committee and the former Senate hopeful looked to rally his supporters in an email sent out on Friday.

“As the 2018 mid-term election cycle heats up it is incumbent upon all of us to do our part and get involved," Wilcox wrote. “The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is targeting several Congressional Districts in Florida in hopes of taking back control of the House of Representatives. This would be a disaster for the country and would derail the Trump administration’s legislative agenda.”

This is not the only political activity Wilcox has engaged in since bowing out of the Senate contest. In the summer of 2015, Wilcox entered the race for the Republican nomination to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. But, after Rubio decided at the last moment to run for a second term in the Senate, Wilcox dropped out of the race and threw his support to the incumbent.

During his Senate bid, which was his first campaign for elected office, Wilcox called for a strong national defense, small government, free market economic solutions and focusing to win the war on terror.

In October 2016, Wilcox returned to those themes as he launched Restoring American Leadership, a Super PAC.

“We are at a crossroads in this country where we must decide whether we continue on the destructive path we have been on for eight years, or do we renew our commitment to American leadership,” said Wilcox when he launched the group. “I am fighting to do everything in my power to ensure we elect only those who will fight for the conservative principals of limited government, free market capitalism, strong national defense and the liberty ensured by an originalist interpretation of our Constitution.”

Miller is running in the Republican primary in which he faces attorney Vennia Francois, businessman Scott Sturgill who served on the Seminole County Soil and Water Commission and veteran Patrick Weingart.

Murphy beat longtime U.S. Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., in an upset in 2016 and is considered vulnerable in November. But Murphy’s solid fundraising and attempts to claim the center have impressed pundits. Last week, the Cook Report increased Murphy’s odds, moving the race from “Leans Democratic” to “Likely Democratic.”

Wilcox is a good man and fellow Veteran...
