FDP Legislative Committeeman: I Would 'Pull the Trigger' on Julian Assange and Edward Snowden

A once little-known Democratic operative and member of the Miami Democratic Executive Committee has found himself in hot water after threatening on Twitter to kill WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Evan Ross is a budding young Democratic lobbyist heavily involved in the South Florida Democratic scene. Ross works as a lobbyist, served as president of the Miami-Dade Young Democrats and was the Miami Democratic Party’s district chairman from 2011-2012.

Ross’ star has continued to climb. At one point he was even named “Young Democrat of the Year.”

FDP chair Stephen Bittel hand-picked Ross to serve on the party’s legislative committee, working hand-in-hand with state lawmakers to push the party’s agenda through the halls of the Florida Capitol.

Ross has kept a relatively low profile -- until now.

It all started when he took to Twitter Friday evening in a rant centered around WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and whistleblower Edward Snowden.

"He exposed classified American secrets that endangered lives.” Ross wrote at the time. "He and his buddy Edward Snowden both deserve to meet their maker. I'd be happy to pull the trigger on both of those too."

It didn’t take long for Assange to catch wind of the threats and the Australian computer programmer quickly tweeted out a response, screenshotting the tweets and trashing Ross as a “#tolerantliberal.”

Assange’s Twitter account has nearly 250,000 followers, some of whom went after Ross for making the comments. Twitter users flooded Ross’ mentions, criticizing him for making the comments. Some users even sent him death threats.

Yet, in spite of the backlash, Ross refused to back down from the statements, saying he had no regrets about expressing his thoughts.

"I believe strongly in the right to free speech, but I won't be bullied into trading my patriotism for political correctness by Julian Assange or his army of Twitter trolls," Ross wrote in an email to the Miami New Times.

Ross later locked his Twitter account and accused Assange of leading a “bullying” campaign against him, which some users were quick to criticize.

“You can’t threaten someone’s life and then pull the ‘they’re bullying me’ excuse,” wrote one user.

According to various sources, not everyone in the Democratic Party is happy about Ross’ comments. Two sources within the Miami Democratic Party told the New Times they would be filing a complaint in the party over the issue, which has only seemed to intensify as the days go on.

Assange and Snowden have made headlines in recent years for blowing the lid off of national security secrets.

Snowden made headlines in 2013 after leaking and exposing the National Security Agency’s plans to spy on average Americans, which ultimately led to criminal charges of theft of government property, and two counts of violating the Espionage Act.

Snowden later fled the country and sought asylum in Russia.

Assange heads up WikiLeaks, which routinely publishes secret information and news leaks. In 2016, WikiLeaks made national headlines after releasing thousands of emails from the Democratic National Committee which suggested DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, longtime South Florida congresswoman, and other top Democratic officials unfairly favored Hillary Clinton over U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders during the Democratic primary.

Sunshine State News attempted to contact the Florida Democratic Party for a statement but had not received a response at the time of this article’s release.

Suppose I urged someone go inside the beltway, and “pull the trigger” on perjurers—people like James Clapper—who lie under oath and tell us we’re not being spied upon when we are? Could I get away with that? No. We just have to live with the fact that certain people in our government, particularly from the former regime, are above the laws that “Regular Americans” have to obey. None of us can urge violence to deal with our Criminal Elites, because, as we’ve seen demonstrated so many times, violence is solely a prerogative the Left (and also, the Elite scum who rule over us). Believe me, there’s plenty of radical leftists and Neocons I despise, but I have to bite my tongue very hard.

Evan Ross is obviously an enemy of the truth. I wonder what it is about the truth he is afraid of.

Well, I could say I'd like to "pull the trigger" on radical Leftists and warmongering Neocons. It's not like I have any moral scruples about seeing them dead (it's part of "draining the swamp") But it's illegal and I'm a law abiding citizen, so I don't go around killing corrupt politicians or even making the threat. Still, I don't mind if somebody else isn't as law abiding as me, and perhaps they're reading my post.

I know and have long admired Evan Ross. He's a remarkable young man who bears no likeness to the harsh characterizations posted in response to his recent tweet. Nevertheless, for the most part, he's been rightly judged and criticized for his clumsy indiscretion. But that's all it is. Clumsy, not blackhearted. He's a soft touch, not at all predisposed to violence. I'd lay odds he's never been in a fight -- not even in school -- nor fired a handgun. He just let his keyboard get ahead of his better judgment. Nothing more. Who among us hasn't regretted something we've posted, perhaps in anger, then struggled to reconcile the damage done? I'm not inclined to be his apologist, nor interpret what I believe he meant. That's his responsibility. I suspect he'll man-up in earnest and take ownership of his blunder. Preferably soon.

EVAN ROSS, Remember that name. He is a full-blown COMMUNIST hiding behind the "Democrat" name. In actuality, he threatened... ~T~E~R~R~O~R~I~S~M~!~

Ross is a fool ! Without Assange and Snowden, we would still be "in the dark with scales on our eyes" and the "Government's fingers in our ears"!!! Evan Ross is a "typical Democrat" who thinks he knows what's better for us, than we can better decide for ourselves (and THAT"S the prevailing "cancer" in our political system today)! ! ! "Whistle blowers" were heroes who brought "sunshine & truth" into our not to distant history, so that scoundrels & charlatans could be "flushed out of our government systems" and dealt with: In many instances, a "free press" were ABSOLUTELY "the canaries in the mine".... BUT, THAT IS NO LONGER THE CASE with a government-complicit "media complex" constantly regurgitating "political talking points"..! Ross, and his often overwhelming ilk, must be PURGED from our political and media systems ! ! !

As an independent, the crazy thing is if Trump had said it, everyone would be cheering, but because a Dem said it, it's threatening, harassing, humiliating, etc. Regardless of party, those 2 fools are cowards and may as well be spies. They have threatened the Nat'l security of this country and deserve to be dealt with accordingly. At the end of the day, the facts are still the facts. Perhaps recommending a firing squad would have been better, but the outcome is still the same...

Remember his name. Don't let it grow in popularity. If he stopped without volunteering to pull the trigger, that's one thing.

What a jerk. These people , Snowden and Assange are trying to save the the rights of ordinary human beings from institutional psychopaths and preserve the freedom of speech and this blind fool is keen on killing them? I wonder sometimes how American minds work. It seem that they can do no wrong when it comes to stealing , killing ,spying and interfering in the workings of every other nation on Earth. I hope that they realise that power will not always rest with them and maybe , sooner than they think , they will be called upon to account for their treacherous behaviour.

Evidently this ill-educated young savage is unfamiliar with the concept of innocent until proven guilty. The enthusiasms of vigilantes not withstanding someone needs to educate this young fellow, that many Americans still believe that extra judicial homicide is still a crime. Many of us, even regard it as a crime worth investigating and prosecuting.

Apparently gun rights are only for Party Leaders! That should scare Miami's Cuban exiles and others who fled socialist civil strife. Maybe Ross should be investigated for DNC staffer Seth Rich's death last year?

So the Florida Democratic Party is threatening murder now? That outfit sinks lower and lower with each regime change!!
