I Will Not Vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton

May 6, 2016 - 8:15pm

I congratulate Donald Trump on securing his place as the Republican party’s presumptive nominee. There is no doubt that he successfully tapped into the deep sense of anger and frustration so many Americans around the country rightfully feel today.

The tremendous anger of the current U.S. electorate – whether Republican, Democrat or independent – is a result of people fearful about the future, concerned with the direction of our country and tremendously frustrated by the abject failure and inability of leaders in Washington, D.C. to make anything better.
American voters have made it clear that Washington is broken, but I’m not optimistic that either of the leading candidates for president will put us on a better course.

The American presidency is an office that goes beyond just politics. It requires of its occupant great fortitude and humility and the temperament and strong character to deal with the unexpected challenges that will inevitably impact our nation in the next four years.

Donald Trump has not demonstrated that temperament or strength of character. He has not displayed a respect for the Constitution. And, he is not a consistent conservative. These are all reasons why I cannot support his candidacy.

Hillary Clinton has proven to be an untrustworthy liberal politician who, if elected, would present a third term of the disastrous foreign and economic policy agenda of Barack Obama.

In November, I will not vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, but I will support principled conservatives at the state and federal levels, just as I have done my entire life. For Republicans, there is no greater priority than ensuring we keep control of both chambers of Congress. I look forward to working hard for great conservatives in the Senate and House in the coming months.

Former Gov. Jeb Bush, R-Fla., son of former President George H.W. Bush and brother of former President George W. Bush, was one of the 16 candidates for the Republican presidential nomination who dropped out of the race.

What happened to the "contract/pledge" you signed to support the Republican Party Candidate. You are one big "entitlement" guy! Fortunately, your name does not guarantee you a seat in the Oval Office.

Sour grapes... Voters have said loud and clear that the Republican party is broken and they believe it will take an outsider to fix it. Either the dumbos will respond to that and take action, clean house and make changes, or take their ball and go home. I am predicting the latter will occur. translated, more of the same poo that got us into this mess...classic.

Mark is right, Jeb ran this state like he was an emperor, and gave out favors and robbed the Sadowsky money, and ran rough shod over everyone. Just because he did not use vulgarisms, does not mean he was not a bad guy.

Why even say it? Jeb wanted the nob, and there was nothing wrong with that, but prep school paternalism demonstrates the flaw in his own character. What matters most??????? Supreme court justices, federal court appointees, the Deficit.... Hillary or Trump will make those decisions. You know we cannot afford Hillary, but positioning in such a way only helps that side. Ideology is what is important, not persons. Grow up Bushes and swallow hard, but do what is right for the future of america, not for your ego.

What a low energy column.

What a low energy column.

Trump says about being conservative: "at this point , who cares?" Sounds familiar? Hillary and him are two faces of the same coin.("at this point what difference does it make?")

When you abdicate the middle politically really bad things happen. This is a case of continuing Republican nihilism in the face of serious right wing race baiting and jingoism! I think that Jeb Bush needs to get off the fence and stand up for the people of our State and country. This is the only way that the Republican party is going to regain stature. Just read about John Adams by David McCullough - one of our "Founding Fathers" (as they say). It has never been easy!

VERY well said & I could not POSSIBLY agree more!

I don't like either Trump or Clinton but at least Clinton is not crazy.

Abject incompetence and corrupt masked by desires of stewardship is psychopath. Hillary is all those things. At least Trump has successfully built something of value and permanence. That is allot more than most American can say about the Democratic Party haplessness.

Really? Democratic haplessness? I'm sure many of you repugs have a bad memory, but here's a refresher, when Bill Clinton left office, didn't we have a budget surplus and below 5% unemployment? Silly me, I know Republicans would like to sweep those facts under the rug. Let me put it another way, the last two GOP presidents left office with a worse economic condition than they started with. Surely you cannot argue with the end of GW Bush's reign of terror, but the same goes for GHW Bush.

Who am I going to vote for is the person is the person say definitely I will fix the Healthcare including Veteran Healthcare, Education, DOD, RAISE THE MINIMUM WAGE TO 12 DOLLARS A HOUR, and WHEN IT COMES TO MEDICAL MISTAKE IT WOULD BE WRITTEN DOWN IN THE PERSON MEDICAL RECORDS, and THAT GOES FOR VETERANS MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS. .......

For those of you who claim to not know what Trump is going to do or stands for, here's a list of many of the issues that he has identified as needing to be fixed to make OUR country Great Again. This is what all these SO CALLED Conservatives have failed to even address while allowing Obama's agenda to pass. Build Wall -- Legal Immigration -- End sanctuary cities -- Immediately deport criminal illegal aliens -- Safe zone in Syria for refugees and have the Gulf States pay for -- Take care of OUR veterans -- Support our police -- End Common Core -- Return education to the States -- Fix failing schools -- Repeal and replace Obamacare -- Women's health issues (Trump is pro-life) -- Negotiate FAIR trade deals -- Bring back good American jobs from overseas -- Energy independence -- Reduce $19 trillion dollar deficit -- Balance the Budget -- Eliminate waste -- Rebuild infrastructure -- Restore and strengthen our Military -- Fix broken political system -- Reduce taxes on lower and middle class. With the exception of building the wall to keep illegals and drugs out of our country (Conservatives, including Cruz, are against this because the lobbyists from the Chamber of Commerce want to keep wages low) -- what don't you agree with or what do you think isn't conservative?

And the problem with this is???

OH JEB,... Get in line behind Rosie O'Donnell , Al Sharpton, your brother and your Dad..... ALL of you lost any modicum of CLASS that we suspected you might have had... Besides "Jebbie Boy", I think I recall you on TV promising to support the nominee....(Just like we thought: YOU can't be trusted !)....and THAT'S why you "went home early" despite all of the Quid pro quo money you collected for "later favors" (So Sad !!!)

Trump is totally unfit to be President and leader of the Free World. Hillary is not much better but at least you know what you are getting. Only hope is forf the delegates in Cleveland to reject Trump in favor of another or, failing that, a Third Party candidate who will move the election into the House of Representatives..

@Jack, perhaps you'll support hillary, who will soon become a known felon but Trump, on his own with a little financial help from his father built his own dynasty, lost it, and rebuilt again, only more smarter and more solid. The delegates are mandated on the first 3 ballots to vote for Trump and anything other is to ignore the clear majority of Republican primary voters. I disagree with ANY candidate from the House as most are only interested in their own careers with lifetime benefits. I believe Trump is the guy the Republicans MUST support, and no other, including their top whip, Paul Ryan. GO TRUMP!

I am so glad Jeb Bush decided to suspend his run for the White House in 2016. His final death nail in his political coffin came when he, and his family decided not to support the Republican candidate, whomever it will be, for president. This just goes to show that his true childish behavior finally came through. There is still the Republican Convention that will elect the candidate--Jeb. Don't forget that the purpose of voting is to keep Hillary out of office. Remember, Obama put this country in the toilet, by voting for Hillary, she will pull the handle. So stop your pouting Jeb, You just proved you did not lose graciously, you are too immature to be President. And also remember, Trump does not need other peoples money to get elected, as you do. In this way, TRUMP DOES NOT OWE FAVORS TO ANYONE. He will get the job done, just give him a chance.

Unfortunately, most Trumpeteers are desperate to be significant. In a general election Donald Trump can not self fund. He has already reach out for a Wall Street player tied to worst amongst us George Soros. Ted Cruz final comment on the street to Trump supporters "you are being played for chumps."

So says the head 'chump'! GO TRUMP!

Jeb - you said the people are "tremendously frustrated by the abject failure and inability of leaders in Washington, D.C. to make anything better." You do realize that your family are part of this problem. It is not just the last eight years that caused this, the eight years before that contributed significantly. The Republican insiders did not like Ronald Regan and did what they could to prevent him from becoming the Republican candidate. I think most would say he was the last good president the country has had. So instead of "taking your ball home" why not surround Trump with the greatest team of republicans available thereby being part of the solution not the problem.

The Trump zombies are dancing on the streets. They don't care he was a democrat all his life (still is) who will sabotage Florida's Eminent Domain law ,which took us decades to accomplish. He will be stoned out of the White House by the very idiots who are trying now to put him there

Thank you "John Duh"....(Too much "zombie TV" for you I suspect)...

I guess you must know a lot! I'm for Trump and proud of it. This country needs a shake up!

After pissing away a quick, cool 100 million of other peoples money, you were sent to the showers, Jeb. The American voters disdain for you started when your wife tried to beat customs tax on the booty from her shopping spree. YOU SAID YOU WOULD SUPPORT THE NOMINEE. Of course, Elizabeth Warren said she was an Indian, Dick Blumenthal said he was a decorated Vietnam veteran and Hillary blamed the video. At the same time texting Chelsea about the planned terror attack. No one cares what you say poor little rich boy. Go Trump

Ah "Trapper",...You are fast becoming my idol !

BOTH of you are truly Masters! GO TRUMP!

Jeb is a class act and was an excellent govrnor. It is inconceivalble that Jeb would gratuitously insult and offend individuals, ethnic groups and religions. Trump is a carnival barker and insult dog. Trump is all about his own personal brand and will damage the Republican brand with bad ramifications for down ballot Republicans. Long term Republicans should spend their efforts working for and funding down ballot Republicans to try to limit long term damage to the party. Unless Hillary is indicted, Trump will get wiped out in the general election.

Even if she will be indicted she will probably be allowed to serve her term in jail and her term as President concurrently. The democrats have a knack of electing criminals to serve. Remember Marion Barry?
