Tom Rooney Backs Connie Mack to Challenge Bill Nelson

The Republican establishment continues to rally behind U.S. Rep. Connie Mack to take on Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in November. On Monday, U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney announced that he was backing Mack.

I have known Connie Mack for 20 years, and I can tell you from years of working alongside him that he is a trusted, reliable conservative whom we desperately need in the U.S. Senate, Rooney said. The Democrats, including Senator Nelson, have failed to make the tough choices facing our nation; they have failed to pass a budget, and they have failed the people of Florida. If we are going to turn this country around, reduce the size of government and return to our constitutional principles, Florida must elect Connie Mack to the U.S. Senate. I am proud to endorse my friend Connie.

I have known Tom Rooney since he worked for my father in the U.S. Senate, and even then he was a man of integrity whose dedication to public service was clear, Mack said. It has been an honor to serve beside him in the U.S. Congress on behalf of the people of Florida, and I look forward to doing the same in the U.S. Senate.
