Ted Yoho Brings Out Condemnation of Syrian Strongman Assad

U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., who sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, brought out a resolution condemning Syrian strongman Bashar Hafez al-Assad for using chemical weapons on the Syrian people. The resolution has the support of U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., the chairwoman of the U.S. House Middle East and North African Subcommittee.

“After the United Nations recently passed a resolution similar to H. Res 346 - by unanimous consent- it is the ideal time to introduce my bipartisan resolution in the House,” Yoho said on Tuesday. “It has been documented that between March 16th and June 29th, the Assad regime has used 29 barrel bombs—which contained weaponized chlorine gas and shrapnel on the city of Idlib. The result is death, maiming, and physiological terrorism.

“These weapons of terror release gas on impact and usually take place at night when people seek shelter in the lower levels of buildings in order to sleep,” Yoho added. “The heavy nature of the gas causes it to seep downward and suffocate civilians as they sleep. The Assad regime blatant use of terror weapons is a terrible form of warfare and needs to be stopped.

“To date, an estimated 230,000 deaths have been caused in the Syrian Civil War. 6.5 million people have been displaced and the U.S. taxpayers are feeding 2.554 million Syrian refugees with U.S. Aid vouchers – similar to EBT Cards,” Yoho said in conclusion. “This war has cost the U.S. taxpayer, hundreds of thousands of Syrian lives, and destabilized not just Syria and the Middle East but the world. It needs to stop.”
