Teamsters Back Patrick Murphy for the Senate in 2016
On Friday, the Florida Teamsters endorsed U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., who is running for the Democratic nomination to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., in 2016.
"I'm humbled and excited by the support of the Florida Teamsters,” Murphy said on Friday. “Florida's working families need leadership — from the local level to the U.S. Senate to the White House — that will fight every day for them, and no one else. I'm running to grow the middle class, and that starts with the unions who built our middle class."
“Patrick Murphy is exactly the leader Florida’s working families need right now,” said Ken Wood, the president of Teamsters Joint Council 75 which includes all of the Sunshine State. “Unlike anyone else in this race, he will put politics aside in the U.S. Senate and get things done for the middle class.”
Murphy faces U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., and attorney Pam Keith in the Democratic primary.
