Supreme Court Gets Mixed Marks in New Poll

During June, all eyes turn to the U.S. Supreme Court, especially with major rulings, including on Californias same-sex marriage law, expected in the days to come.

A poll of likely voters from Rasmussen Reports finds Americans are split on how they think the Supreme Court is doing. Only 5 percent think the Supreme Court is doing an excellent job. While 25 percent think the Supreme Court does a good job, almost as many -- 24 percent -- think the Supreme Court is doing a poor job. Almost two-fifths of those surveyed -- 39 percent -- think the Supreme Court is doing a fair job. While five members of the Supreme Court were named by Republican presidents, the poll finds 40 percent of those surveyed think the justices are too liberal.

The national poll of 1,000 likely voters was taken from June 18-19 and had a margin of error of +/- 3 percent.
