Social Conservatives Claim a Victory in Protest of 'Pretty Little Liars'
Last month, the Florida Family Association (FFA) sent out messages of protest to companies running ads during Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family. The FFA argued that the show, which is aimed for teenagers, promotes lesbianism.
Apparently, the FFAs campaign is starting to show signs of success. On Monday, David Caton, the executive director of the FFA, released an e-mail that was sent to him by Margaret Kelly, the CEO of realty giant RE/MAX.
We have looked into this situation and discovered that while we purchase advertising on this cable station, we do not purchase advertising on that particular show, Kelly wrote Caton. We have informed our media company to be sure to reference our list of shows that we do not want to advertise on ... this show is on the list. This should not happen again.
