Senate Hopeful Carlos Beruff Goes After Bernie Sanders, Alan Grayson on Cuba

Businessman Carlos Beruff, currently running for the Republican nomination in Florida’s U.S. Senate race, came out swinging on Thursday at U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and fellow Senate hopeful U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., for praising Fidel Castro.

"Last night, Bernie Sanders showed that he has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to Cuba,” Beruff said. “My family fought alongside thousands of Cubans to overthrow Batista and then Castro because they were a threat to the basic principles of democracy and human rights. The Castro brothers are thugs and dictators. Period.

“Even more absurd is that the leading Democrat candidate for the U.S. Senate, Congressman Grayson, has demonstrated complete ignorance by agreeing with Bernie Sanders, and refusing to condemn Sander’s praise for Communist dictators,” Beruff added “Is the Democratic Party in Florida really that far out of touch with reality?”

Grayson is backing Sanders over former U.S. Sec. of State Hillary Clinton in Florida’s presidential primary on Tuesday.
