RPOF Hits Hillary Clinton as She Gets Ready to Call for End of Cuban Embargo

With former U.S. Sec. of State Hillary Clinton, the favorite for the Democratic presidential nomination, headed to Miami on Friday, the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) took aim at her call for ending the embargo on Cuba.

Clinton is scheduled to speak at Florida International University (FIU) on Friday and will talk about the embargo.

“Hillary Clinton will call on Congress to lift the Cuban embargo during a speech on Friday, July 31st,” the Clinton campaign emailed the media on Friday. “She will highlight that Republican arguments against increased engagement are part of failed policies of the past and contend that we must look to the future in order to advance a core set of values and interests to engage with Cubans and address human rights abuses.”

That quickly drew fire from the RPOF.

“Hillary Clinton’s call to lift the embargo on Cuba's oppressors is a giant step in the wrong direction that will only further empower the repressive Castro regime which has undermined the United States left and right while continuing to violate the human rights of the Cuban people,” said Wadi Gaitan, a spokesman for the RPOF, on Wednesday. “The Castro regime has sheltered U.S. criminals on the FBI’s Terrorist list, been complicit in the deaths of Americans over international waters, and attempted to illegally ship weapons to North Korea.”
