RPOF Chairman Lenny Curry Applauds Voter Registration Cleanup Effort

Florida Republican Party Chairman Lenny Curry thanked "citizen activists" who have embarked on an effort to ensure that the state's voter rolls are free of noncitizens.

"While the Obama administration and liberal special interests don't seem to care about the integrity of Florida's voting system, thankfully there are citizen activists throughout our state who do, and we thank them for their support," Curry said in a statement Tuesday.

"The Florida Federation of Republican Women, tea party groups throughout Florida and the Florida Assembly of Black Republicans have all called on the [Department of Homeland Security], [Department of Justice] and the Obama administration to stop stonewalling and provide states like Florida with the SAVE data needed that would help protect our election process from fraud," Curry said.

The federal government's data from SAVE -- Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements file -- has been requested by state officials for the past year, to no avail. Frustrated by that lack of cooperation, a coalition of tea party groups announced this week they would begin to cross-reference jury-excusal records to ferret out noncitizens who may be on the voter-registration rolls.

"Each of these groups has proactively taken steps to help fight potential voter fraud and their hard work is appreciated by Floridians who want to ensure that we have lawful elections," Curry said.
